Sep 4, 2015 Only reason Bernie is not winning with nineties is because they just don't know. But they all jump on board once they hear his stances. All it takes is a few more barbershop arguments and some stickers to up the name recognition.
Sep 4, 2015 yeah, biden is legitimately gauging whetehr he is up for the gauntlet of a presidential race the idea that his whole candidacy is bs b/c of that is wrong tho not just a media pipe dream
Sep 7, 2015 no one has campaigned against him. I bet if you did a "would you prefer a generic Republican or a generic Democrat the generic Democrat would get about the same numbers as Bernie. Against any semi-competent Republican and the two billion dollars they're going to drop, he'd lose. They would paint him as the crazy socialist career politician extremist and destroy him in swing state after swing state. His lack of exposure is helping him in general election matchups.
Sep 7, 2015 Lack of exposure is helping him, lol. Okay.. Despite favorability ratings increasing among ALL races and genders as he gets more exposure. It's helping him, got it.
Sep 7, 2015 I don't think he actually means lack of exposure. It's just that Hillary is not attacking him right now cause she needs his followers for the general election. No one is going after him for being a socialist right now. If he somehow wins the primary and has to fight against anyone not named Trump, it's an automatic loss. Then, no one will care that he actually means "Democratic Socialist", not the 90s Socialist, when he calls himself a Socialist. I can imagine the barrage of attacks against him in commercials. The thing that would make it worse is that he doesn't take criticism very well.
Sep 8, 2015 All these if's when the net game kinda strong. Berns only chance at taking the GE lies with full on youth support.
Sep 8, 2015 right. the only thing people really know about him is that he's an "authentic" guy who draws big crowds. Republicans aren't talking about him because they dream of being lucky enough to run against him in the general election. Hillary isn't talking about him because there isn't much political upside to doing so at this point. He does fine in head to head matchups because people are pretty split on whether they want a Democratic or Republican President. He's a blank slate, a generic candidate right now. Once two billion dollars in commercials featuring clips like "Refer to me as a socialist, I am" and talking about how he wants the US to be more like Europe, and he's going to be set up for a huge, huge loss. We're probably too polarized to see anything like Reagan's reelection any time soon, he'll win California, New York, etc. but it is going to be ugly off the coasts.
Sep 8, 2015 Right but that's what attack ads do. There aren't any attack ads right now period though. The GOP talks about Hillary atm because she is the presumed front runner. I'm not sure that attack ads for Bernie will be any worse than Hillary's would be re: her email scandal and ties to bankers.
Sep 8, 2015 the attack ads against Bernie would be so, so much more effective. People already know Hillary. She's been under constant Republican assault for more than 20 years. She's got a floor on her support. We don't know how low Bernie's is, but we do know that socialists are the people least likely to be supported by Americans for President, below atheists and Muslims
Sep 8, 2015 We know that? How? Where? Because I see Socialism as favored among the youth of this country in multiple polls, who are, ya know, the future. Albeit they aren't the ones participating as much in the election, but it will have a ripple effect in time.
Sep 8, 2015 Shotty birthday present for Sanders as the new Monmouth national poll has Clinton up more than 2:1and he falls to third place behind Biden
