Nov 24, 2015 OP mentioned physical copies. It's not like Esco sent a cease and desist. He told XXL to take down an article/tweet because they don't officially support it. Really doubt any litigation will occur over some guy drawing pictures on his Tumblr. OP overreacted.
Nov 24, 2015 imma take a rough guess that it had something to do with it being offensive/ problematic or somethn, but it didn't matter as long as DJ Esco liked it, and since DJ Esco didn't like it they killed it.
Nov 24, 2015 I mean you don't really need approval to write Fan Fiction.......... Its not that hard to understand
Nov 24, 2015 don't really see why it was shut down as long as they aren't profiting. But then again, not sure how the law would work on the internet. I mean, could they argue that they are profiting off this comic, by getting more hits on their site for using future's image, in turn getting google money? or however that works.
Nov 24, 2015 tbh you don't really need permission to do fan fiction, DJ Esco mos def had a part in it being taken down but @WPG said "there's more to it", which I think probably means it's cos they don't want this comic book to be a distraction from what's happening in the news like Laquan McDonald in Chicago & the 4th Precinct shootings in Minneapolis, something along those lines.
Nov 24, 2015 yeah that's sorta what i mean, with internet culture there's fan fiction of everything everywhere. (just guessing, but i bet there's a comic somewhere where batman and robin are a gay couple living together). But like I said before, it could be one of those "grey" areas in the law. Where like you could maybe win a case if (in this example) you argued there was a profit of some kind happening through them using future's face - for example, they got more viewers and more google ad sense or w/e its called so technically they profitted? i dont really know though. SXN80 needs a lawyer to register.
