I'd still put money on Cole dropping a solo joint in February. He's most likely been working on new s--- for nearly a year now.

Listen to the end of Black Friday again...it does just seem like a big ploy to keep ppl speculating about the collab. At some point he and K Dot will get to it. Now? Doubtful. Plus TDE is really picky with releasing albums. Kenny is a perfectionist and Punch strategically takes his time with releasing s---. Feb is too soon for the collab to drop.

I was with you when it first dropped but the more I think about it, why would Cole mention Kendrick at all if it was just a solo? Why even tease at all after saying in the sway interview "he doesn't want to talk about it, just know that it'll happen." At this point that would just be a bad look for Cole building up something that wouldn't even materialize. Cole knew what he was doing by name dropping Kendrick joking that it won't ever happen so I'm thinking the collab album will really happen. If it was just a solo Cole would not need to mention Kendrick at all because at that point you're just being a d-ck after fans have been waiting years for this. Honestly, it's gonna be a little bit of a letdown for the hip hop community if all we get is a Cole solo even though I would personally be more than satisfied.

Anyway, I still believe he's dropping the collab and a solo next year.

My only hesitation with the collab album is that cole and kendrick werent together when they recorded black friday- ib set it up which makes me think it could have been a spontaneous move by both camps.

Nah this is an L for Cole if it's just a solo tbh. Would mean his awareness and pulse on the game is way worse than I thought. Doesn't necessarily mean the collab album must drop on February but if that s--- is not dropping sometime next year and they aren't working on it as we speak then those last 4 bars were a blunder.

True but don't forget Cole says "dreamville in this MFer, Top Dawg in this MFer".

So I'm guessing top dawg was with them. they could have been talking about the collab. Also it was spontaneous like you said but it could have been inspired by the fact they were already making great music together. Why not give the people a teaser with freestyles.

I wonder if he already has his moves planned out for the next couple years with all those songs in his vault. & I don't think collab is coming this February... Maybe TY4 or something with Kendrick feature

Also, Cole's Black Friday is growing on me more and more with each listen. I feel Kendrick sometimes does so much that it's overwhelming for me and I can't listen to it on repeat too much

Re-listening to that Temptations rip, I think it's a bit of a good indicator of what a lot of Kendrick/Cole songs could sound like. Cole with the melody and flow, and Kendrick with the aggressive onslaught of bars, and while it might make some people say Kendrick was better than Cole on the song, you can't tell me Temptation would sound as good without Cole. His musicality is just as important as Kendrick's bars & we need more.

Speaking of which, since Cole said "when I f--- around and drop...", it makes me feel like he's either going to drop a short LP of like 5 songs with both of them, or he'll drop a single or two with Kendrick. Just feels like he's hinting more at just giving a taste of what a joint project would sound like since he said "they can't handle..." it.

I think Freddie is a straight up hard guy, lyrical and all. This one rides, some nice melodies and flows. Like i said i dont listen to him so i dont really know what his sound is. Do you mind recommending few songs or projects?
