Aug 20, 2016 Need art done? Post it here and I will do your request! I do ANYTHING. I have all ADOBE SOFTWARE. I am a college student/freelance designer. First few requests are on the house! Thats right! FREE! But as I post the finished pieces and people see how professional and good my work is I will begin to charge small fees! I have to make money to continue college and anything on the side helps! Here are some examples of my work: Logos Ads/Awareness Posters Album Artwork Making Album Artwork is what got me into graphic design. It is one of the most joyful things for me to make. Because of this, I often will make multiple covers a day, in like 5 or 10 minutes. Just for fun. I will post what I think is some of my BEST covers. But also here is a link to every cover I have made dating back to about two years ago (remember, some of these are just made for fun, if you request an album cover from me or any project I will take my time and give you the best thing possible for you and from me) Link --> http://jakecastle4.tumblr.com/archive Cool Video showing me making the YELAWOLF cover --> Miscellaneous

Aug 21, 2016 You're looking in the wrong places then @Mike Tyson @Cyreides @jhgfx @Devil White @theg @young king @SaltyGhost Probably more I can't think of atm too
Aug 21, 2016 that's not how to get customers fam doing free work devalues you and the profession as a whole
Aug 21, 2016 im not going to charge someone for my first time. especially when im in college and people on here probably have a small budget. i want my customers to be satisfied and happy and guaranteed a good product. I will be posting examples of my work tonight. I have to go to work rn. Hope you guys check this out when I post the examples!
Aug 21, 2016 right but doing free work doesn't get you any rep with anyone other than people who aren't going to pay anyway lol nothing wrong with doing probono work for charities and non profits, I do that all the time, but to just throw it out there and say "hey guys I'll work for free" is the wrong way to go about it. you're only going to build a rapport with people that have no money to hire you again for repeat work and the people who do have money are going to hire someone who does charge because you get what you pay for
Aug 21, 2016 rt by working cheap for random ppl on a forum you're literally putting yourself so far beneath every1 else and its hard to take you seriously if some1 who isnt a close friend of me asks me if i can design him something i just straight up tell him the hour price and say "you get what you pay for"
Aug 21, 2016 @theg thank you for your advice. but please. lets just focus on the topic here. if you wanna continue your debate do it elsewhere please.

Aug 21, 2016 This isn't straight up bad, but you should learn more about typography and practice the use of space between your elements as well as the balance between contrast and harmony. Specifically this is an example on how different elements melt together, and inhibit readability as well as the message. I'm a fan of minimalist art directions, but when you don't balance the space enough, the simplicity doesn't work in your favor. I get why you chose the red circle for an O, and a blue cross over the bottom text. The problem is that you remove the necessary contrast between the text elements and the illustration. Theres also no contrast in size or any space to separate them. The design is hard to read, and there's too much noise for the message to reach the receiver, presuming this is meant for a poster format. To improve this, I'd first of all fix the spacing. That alone would make massive improvements. I would also remove the O & X from the text elements. Then I'd move the "DOESN'T MEAN" (probably also change to "does not mean") down with the bottom text, or even bring all the text together as one element to add to the minimalism. When you pick out an art direction, go all the way. Since in this case it's minimalism, simplify the layout as much as possible and strip away your design elements until you only have the core message left. I'd go as far as to remove the grid for the illustration and stroke the circles instead of filling them to add even more contrast to the text. Also do you do any concept work? Some of these seem a bit uninspired, obvious or even improvised.
