Mar 23, 2017 As they say controversy creates cash and he was as controversial as it gets. Aiding his popularity
Mar 23, 2017 The question isn't about who is better it's who is more popular. Gaga at her prime was obviously more popular than Future has ever been
Mar 23, 2017 No one who was alive and following Em at all during this time would even suggest their popularities in their primes are even close.. It's just not, sorry.. really not much else to discuss here.
Mar 23, 2017 I agree with that statement but in support of drake You're stupid if you missed the point tbh
Mar 23, 2017 Actually nevermind don't even bother, looked at page 1 and you're clearly trolling or a complete moron.
Mar 23, 2017 Eminem been doing it for a very long time and is still hugely popular. Drake is only popular because of those many "different" reasons... Come on, Even Drake knows who's more "popular"
Mar 23, 2017 Only that, in 2017, there is a lot more avenues an artist had to dominate to become as popular as drake. Eminem had 2 things to conquer - CD sales and radio. He dominates CD sales and wasn't played anywhere near as much as drake on radio. Social media was just ONE avenue listed (along with streams, downloads, etc) that an artist has to dominate in 2017 that didn't exist in 2000. Drake dominates everything.
Mar 23, 2017 Instead of "weezy keep your head up, Drake keep your head up" wish he would've been like "Y'all s---" That line ughhh
Mar 23, 2017 Can't believe I'm wasting my time with this...but you're blaming Em for not being big on things that didn't exist at the time? Really, that's your argument? Like I'm not even a big Em fan, honestly I wouldn't even call myself an Em fan anymore, I've liked 1 or 2 songs of his since 8 mile that's about it..but you're really underestimating how huge he was in his prime..Like not just on music channels and radio stations but ALL over. He wasn't kidding when he talked about 'picket signs outside the interscope offices' and people trying to ban him, protesting, being covered on news channels etc etc. I'm sorry but it's just not close, no matter how you look at it. It's not even Drake's fault, it's partly just the era and also partly cuz Em was white, that gave him a bit of an advantage as well.
Mar 23, 2017 Seriously @SIiK I'd just concede you're wrong to me and @Kon because before you know it ConspiracyGang is gonna enter this thread and this thread was literally tailor made for him and its going to be h--- for all of us
Mar 23, 2017 So just end it before he finds this thread and starts shaking and froffing at the mouth at all the potential stats he can post here
Mar 23, 2017 ConspiracyGang when he enters this thread and gets to finally talk about ems popularity and its actually on topic:
Mar 23, 2017 He's gonna be like 'Em sold x amount of records in Michigan in the past 72 hours, Drake didn't even get to half of that!' then he's gonna go on with 150 more (probably made up) similar examples that no one's gonna read.
Mar 23, 2017 f--- this made me wonder if conspiracy still thinks Em's in his prime lol, wouldn't doubt it. *edit* but I don't care enough to actually ask him, so please no one do..
Mar 23, 2017 "And eminem has better melodies and a singing voice i like hailies song and mockingbird his bridges and melodies and singing talent is why hes so great. There are better mcs than him like rakim and scarface but his singing is the best - I'm also severely autistic and bring nothing to the table in any aspect of life"
Mar 23, 2017 Okay, so drake is dominating streams but I seem to recall that eminems's last solo was in 2013 ( when streams didn't count) and drake has about 3 projects since then. Drake's latest is predicted to sell 775k-800k, Eminem sold 790k in 2013(without streams). About the Eminem record he broke( with streams), wiz khalifa's 'see you again' spent the same no of weeks at no 1 as 'lose yourself', is he as big as eminem? About social media, it didn't exist back then, end of. About radio play, first of all rap music wasnt exactly a radio friendly genre in the late 90's and early 00's, also prime Em didn't exactly make radio worthy songs, even 'the real slim shady' was very offensive, his pop songs then were more like 'same song and dance' than 'not afraid'. These are just my thoughts, don't care who is bigger, it isn't going to change the fact that I have an exam tomorrow which I'm under prepared for.
Mar 23, 2017 @SIiK You're obviously wrong man. You bring up social media but the facts are Eminem was bigger than Drake WITHOUT the use of social media, that should tell you something. Many people who can't speak english know full Eminem songs- he was a superstar, so is Drake but Em is up there with Elvis etc. He's one of the very few people who are known worldwide and will go down in history that isn't a political figure.
