Jun 28, 2017 it didnt grow on me as much as i hoped still a cool project its no ss1 or tha tour though
Jun 28, 2017 Never rated that high to begin with. Nice poppy record with Thug trying to be focused. Not the best fit for him, but he's still sonically ahead of most Rappa Ternt Sangas.
Jun 29, 2017 not rly he gets points for pushing the envelope and trying out something new, and id rather have that than another slime season but the album is p inconsistent and i dont think the concept or direction is very solid. then again seeing as its exec produced by drake its probably meant for playlist listening which is why it fails in front to back listens.
Jun 29, 2017 wikipedia still says exec produced by drake, which refers to an xxl article thats got london on the track as source
Jun 29, 2017 It's just so bizarre to say this feels like a playlist when it's clearly the most thought out and purposeful track listing placement he's ever had.
Jun 29, 2017 That don't really mean he aint exec prod it tho. Thug was still tagging Drake 3 days before the tape dropped
Jun 29, 2017 looking at it from track titles it makes sense, sonically it's not as seamless from track to track as jeff or b6
Jun 29, 2017 I'm not talking about the titles, I'm talking about thematically, it's conceptually driven and sonically connected as well. What transitions don't flow sonically?
Jun 29, 2017 Well it's basically him showing himself to Jerrika and his transitioning from the carefree bachelor lifestyle to settling down and getting married. The first few tracks he's stunting his accomplishments but also talking to his family and to her and letting them know that he'll always ride for them as long as they ride for him; it's just that he feels he deserves to do whatever he wants since he's the one providing everything for everyone around him. Then on Relationships he's kind of struggling with commitment and settling down and it could be seen as a night of partying and being careless for him; but then on You Said he finds himself alone and thinking about Jerrika and trying to place what she means to him into perspective. On Fire is basically the centerpiece as he's questioning himself and trying to realize his purpose in the lives of those he cares about. Get High sends him on a hazy trip down memory lane as the three tracks that follow we're all made in 2015 when he was first falling in love with Jerrika and it perhaps makes him realize how much she truly means to him and that he needs her. So then he bounces back clearheaded and determined on For Y'all and Take Care stating that he'll risk his life for those he loves and accepting that he needs to go hard to provide for them at all costs. Then the last line on the album is "I know you want a savage to give you a ring right? Take Care." speaking directly to Jerrika and letting her know exactly what she's in for if she chooses to really take the next step with him.
Jun 29, 2017 oooo interesting i just thought his constant swings between monogamy and polygamy was his usual sporadic and improvisational approach to writing i guess the overarching theme of the album is a story and feeling i dont agree with or relate to, i usually get album concepts fairly quick but this just went str8 over my head have to listen front to back a couple more times but i dont think this is gnna be part of my fav thug projects, pop country thug was a fun deviation from the styles hes done so far but i need my blue notes this is way too happy
Jun 29, 2017 i feel rly mean for this but im really looking forward to the first project after they break up
