Oct 7, 2017 a great video to watch but tldw: basically a summary if modern day hip hop is actually a bad thing & how nostalgia plays a part in the old head mentality. Cites MC Hammer as a 90s verison of a Yacthy/Pump/Carti and how other rappers like Q-Tip would diss him for being corny. do you think "mumble" rap needs to officially die? Like the term, as if the genre wasn't founded on fun tunes.
Oct 7, 2017 it concludes why both terms make no sense & how this debate has always been alive. Just an interesting thread to share if we actually have ppl on here that are dimissive of sc rappers or anything none lyrical. what he's great
Oct 7, 2017 the page even mentions Das Efx, which is also mentioned in the video. ironic thinking how versace is coined garbage yet my addias isn't
Oct 7, 2017 ofc it's still "real" hip hop and obviously content hasn't changed much that's not the main issue a lot of people have with the style, and it amazes me how this continues to be an issue that is horribly misconstrued like this
Oct 7, 2017 Great video tbh. I thought it was going to be something totally different. He brings great examples from past & present. People that argue hip-hop now is too repetitive/all the same, clearly haven’t heard their fair share of 90s/80s/70s hip-hop which all was trend based as well. This argument is pointless & has been carried on forever.
Oct 7, 2017 I hate terming rap but I enjoyed watching this, I'm glad the genre has evolved exponentially and will continue to do so. You will always have fans of different eras and preferences, ultimately ignorance and like the video said, nostalgia, are the biggest issues in these debates
