Oct 5, 2017 Well, Regardless of the sales difference.... which is still fun, because 50 was so sure of himself on that front, constantly mentioning his sales, so I think people liked seeing a bully brought down; Regardless of that though, this is a defining moment for them both in hip-hop. Even though 50 was already on the slide after album 1 and Kanye was on the up (in terms of popularity, ever changing critical respect etc.)... these two albums became kind of final "yep. Kanye is a legend" and "yep. This is all 50 can do and now worse than before" statements. From here, 50 only slid further and Ye only grew further. That wasn't a surprise though, to anybody who seriously knows anything about either of them... and rap... and music. 50 is a hella, hella, hella limited artist, lazy lyricist and shameless money grabber of the lowest common denominator content vs. Ye - especially at this time - big thinker, abstract thinker... f---ing egomaniac... no doubt, but, that aside - relentlessly creative f---er trying to push the boundaries 24/7. 50 is and never was any kind of match for Kanye as an artist.
Oct 5, 2017 That run 50 had from 03-07 was immense. People mention GRODT sales but look at his other stuff GRODT (2003) - 8.5 million [U.S] - 14 million [WW] Beg for Mercy (2003) - 2.7 million [U.S] - 5.5 million [WW] The Massacre (2005) - 5.3 million [U.S] - 11 million [WW] GRODT Soundrack (2005) - 1.5 million [U.S] - 3.7 million [WW] Curtis (2007) - 1.5 million [U.S] - 3.5 million [WW] 11 Top 10 Hits from 2003-2007, 18 top 20 hits. "In da Club" (#1) "21 Questions" (#1) "P.I.M.P." (Remix) (#3) "Disco Inferno" (#3) "Candy Shop" (#1) "Just a Lil Bit" (#3) "Outta Control" (Remix) (#6) "Ayo Technology" (#5) "Magic Stick" (#2) "How We Do" (#4) "Hate It or Love It" (#2) Eventhough I am more of a Kanye fan (I only rate 50 from 2003-05) it is hard to find a better run in hip hop (Outside of Eminem). 50 was more of a hit maker than Shady, shady had far less top 10 hits from 1999-03 (4)
Oct 5, 2017 why does he still have fans who support him and who think he is like top 5 or top 10 lmao he is putting out the same boring content for his whole career but with trash beats as well how is he regarded as one of the greats when he is not? He is like gucci mane but with a classic album and 2-3 classic mixtapes
Oct 5, 2017 Truth. For almost all of his career... he was a terrible rapper. Made some good music @ Get Rich, but even on that his writing is still terrible as f---. Super corny and almost no skill or effort. Power of the Dollar is the best he ever was as a rapper. Never a great rhymer but his energy and lines there were good. But yeah top 5 or something is crazy lol. He's not even top 50 in terms of a rapper. I think a lot put him in top in terms of his impact, so they list him in a different way, but I don't hear anybody ranking 50 tbh. Like, other than r-----s or kids.
Oct 22, 2017 If 50 and Game hadn't had the most stupid and pointless beef in rap history, they both would have continued to sell well. I Get Money, Straight to the Bank, Aye Technology, and Amusement Park were good enough singles leading up to the album. Only reason Kanye out sold 50 is cause of Game
