Jul 18, 2018 You’re underrating scorpion over a rap beef that effected your current opinion. Give it 4 months and you’ll totally forget about Pusha t and will enjoy scorpion even more. I listen to it every single day still. How and the h--- can you enjoy more life more than scorpion? And that was a drake side project even better than anything Kanye released in years. Kanye was the only one running his mouth how good his album was going to be. Drake just let the album rollout happen and didn’t overhype it like Kanye tried to do. And Kanye’s best song yikes; Drake wrote lol And let’s not forget the bipolar snake Kanye is. He admitted to being jealous of Drake’s songs being played on the radio and not his and this is a fact you can read online. And drake pretty much said everything on his side imo, to where Kanye left out a lot and sounded like a piece of s--- scattered mixtape overall. Kayne is manic and delusional, at this point of his career. I almost feel sorry for him. He honestly believes he has “superpowers” because of his mental health problems.
Jul 18, 2018 I mean, the public at freestyle shows analyze the rhyming skills of the rappers, and the members of the jury do that too, because that's their job.
Jul 18, 2018 Well, these artists do. So unless these artists aren't normal people, your claims lack consistency, and are therefore false.
Jul 18, 2018 True, but Eminem was mainly popular because of his skill as a rapper. I think he's overrated now because of those aspects though, considering how hard he fell off.
Jul 18, 2018 im p sure the best lyrics come out whenever intuition is at work. and intuition doesnt exactly work statistically and doesnt think about syllables...
Jul 18, 2018 That's not what those artists have said. In fact, those artists, and countless others, have all talked about their technique while rhyming. Intuition doesn't create complex rhyme schemes that even the most skilled poets couldn't replicate.
Jul 18, 2018 Im quite certain you have no idea what intuition is capable of. Professional chess players recognize correct moves to win a game after just passing by a chessboard. This is basic psychology
Jul 18, 2018 Alright, you have no idea what you're talking about. Walking by a chessboard and recognizing correct moves can't be compared to taking the time to write down 16 bars with a complex rhyme scheme. You can't just write a 4-5 syllable rhyme scheme based on intuition, that's an extremely idiotic statement, and shows your lack of knowledge on psychology in implying that intuition can accomplish such a task. Intuition is limited by intelligence, and if you have the intelligence to form such a scheme, you'll have done it whilst thinking about it. Even if intuition worked in the illogical way that you described, the rappers themselves have said that they purposely form these schemes, proving almost every statement you've made throughout this argument to be false. Do yourself a favour and stop talking about this, you lost.
Jul 19, 2018 Why is it incomparable though? Alol @ saying u cant do such a thing by intuition, any task can become intuitive if you keep repeating enough. You have no idea how capable the brain is, expert
Jul 19, 2018 im not virgin enough to actually count f---ing rhyme schemes but im sure if u look at enough gucci mane songs youll find out
Jul 19, 2018 What the f--- are you talking about lmao. It’s literally one of the main reasons he was regarded so highly in his prime.
Jul 19, 2018 @Mow The Red Panda proving why he/she doesn’t post very often in this thread. Coming out with some awful opinions.
Jul 19, 2018 Actually, I do know how capable the brain is, novice. In order for a task to become intuitive you have to train your brain to consider that task as intuition by repeating it over and over, like you said, and yet by bringing up that argument you’ve disproven your own point in that rappers need to train their brains to consider multi-syllabic rhyme schemes intuition, therefore, rappers pay attention to technical skill.
Jul 19, 2018 I wouldn't call More Life a side project, but to me the playlist/radio show type format of that album works really well for Drake because it allows him to go in and out of his influences and inspirations (Dancehall, trap, grime, r&b, etc). I think it's his second best album honestly. Scorpion's Side A and Side B feels a little restricting to me even if it's not a hard line between rap and r&b, but I feel like there's a better was to sequence that album (@Narsh actually made an abridged version that combines the two that flows really well). I'm gonna give it another listen all the way through again soon, but it really doesn't do much for me aside from a handful of standouts. I hope it grows on me but it hasn't really yet.
Jul 19, 2018 Side A got tired because it's only so many times you can sit there and listen to Drake send passive shots at Kanye until you think like, either drop it or go ahead and put your corporate image on the line, and end him for real. It's frustrating, it's almost like watching a boxer circle his opponent, too timid to push. Side B, you can tell, is a disc that Drake had ready to go prior to all that mess that occurred. It's perfect to me, track 1 to 13. Wouldn't cut or move anything. I love it, and I love that he started with my favourite 3 track run (Peak, Summer Games, Jaded). I'm glad we finally got the R&B showing we waited 6-7 years for, and it didn't disappoint at all. Scorpion gets a thumbs up for me, with caveats, but a thumbs up for sure. 7/10 Ye on the other hand is a disaster, and upon replay, has nothing redeemable about it. Even masterful hooks like Yikes are soured quick with his horrible verses. 7 tracks does not help his case, but idk if I'd even want to sit through more content coming from this creative space. It flat out sucks, and it's baffling to me anyone could think otherwise. I haven't read any substantive defence of the project either though, so who knows. KSG had some nice utilization of Cudi, and Kanye always will be a masterful producer, but his rapping just sucks. 3/10 for ye.
Jul 19, 2018 I'd say No Mistakes, Ghost Town, and the intro all succeed for me as songs. I wouldn't put them in the upper echelon of his catalogue by any means, but I enjoy them. I also like the hook/production on both Yikes/All Mine but the verses are s---, and then the two songs dedicated to his wife and child are the worst two on the album imo. It's easily the worst and laziest album he's made, but I also don't think it's as colossal of a failure as people make it out to be. I find it to just be underwhelming/mediocre, not a huge piece of s---.
