The second half of the album feels a lot more in Paak's wheelhouse.

Loved this, wished this came out in the summer since there are a ton of cookout jams. The middle part does drag the album down, not that's its any bad but there is an energy lacking that would not have existed on Malibu. Outside of Dre's dry feature, everybody else delivered and enhanced their respective songs.

Think Dre's insistence to cover as much of Paak's absurd musical range might have hurt the album, it's a bit unfocused and less uniformed than what I hoped for. Nonetheless this has so many head-bobbers and the mixing is absolutely superb, that run from Brother's Keeper to Cheers f---ing rocks!

my thoughts exactly. I wonder how much of a hand Dre really in this though. Really enjoyable album but pales in comparison to Malibu for me.

Just finished my second listen. I think this can rival Malibu but most people will prefer Malibu (including myself) because it’s more accessible in a sense. .paak still has that distinct sound that we’ve heard throughout his career but this is definitely more cinematic & not as soulful as Malibu.

I also think .paak wants the listener to pay more attention to detail with this project. With his other projects, Malibu especially, you can really just vibe with it & feel the emotion in his singing. There’s defintley moments of that here too but he also raps a lot more on here & with songs like “6 Summers” it’s clear he wants you to pay closer attention.

Doesn’t match Malibu to me but it’s practically impossible to do that. I feel like he had a lot more to say on this album though.

“Smile/Petty” & “Mansa Musa” are def the low points on this album for me. Not that I particularly think they’re bad but like others have said, they make the album drag a bit. I’m torn about “smile/petty” though because I like the second half of the song a lot. That beat change is nasty.

This album has been on repeat for a couple of days. Absolutely love it. At first I wasn't sure whether or not I liked it more than Malibu, but this album is so clean and well thought out, that it is clearly better. You can tell that there was a lot of thought put into the album, and it doesn't sound like anything out now. Favorite songs are Cheers, Who R U, 6 Summers, Saviers Road, Sweet Chick. Love the KRS ONe and Busta Rhymes cameos even though they weren't features. Don't know how well this album will do sales wise, but the quality is undeniable and I'm glad to see Dre take a chance on something that is not a sure hit.

Would love to see him release more Aftermath material from Jon Connor and others.

Lmao, I remember when I saw that pic

I actually thought KRS would get some D-R-E production but nah... little did I know. It was just one second of "Wait a minuteeeeeee" for Anderson Paak's song, Jesus.
