Dec 12, 2018 For me, Michael. He is a way better entertainer, performer and dancer imo. I was never really a fan of Prince’s music but i had respect for his talent and his impact on the culture
Dec 12, 2018 I like MJs music a lot more but Prince obviously was the better musician/artist Mike's discography is incredible tho
Dec 12, 2018 Prince. Hands down. MJ’s best songs are better than Prince’s best songs but Prince’s discography is way better than Michael’s. Plus Prince was a true musician. He played a bunch of instruments and was a beast on the guitar. He was also an amazing producer.
Dec 12, 2018 tough call. both were incredible talents prince could play a whole slew of instruments, and gets overlooked for how good of a guitar player he was. plus his albums through the 80's are incredible. he could do no wrong in that entire decade. gotta give it to prince
Dec 12, 2018 Hard for me. As a fan of Prince's hits, it's surprising I never actually listened any of his albums except Greatest Hits lol. On the other hand, MJ's Bad, Thriller and Off the Wall were 3 of the very few albums I can listen to as a whole without skipping a song. Also like Dangerous too but there were some skippable songs there as I remember. I know very less about Prince. His music is all I know and it's dope but MJ's best s--- is on another level to me. PLus, I can't think a bigger star than MJ in music. He was a show man, he was dancing great and actually has his own dance. Everybody will know when you say "MJ Dance" People said Prince was a real musician because he played instruments and stuff but what about melodies and writing ? I don't know how much MJ was involved with composing his own songs but who knows maybe he was the one came up with the ideas by humming and stuff like that. But again I don't know.
Dec 12, 2018 Lol. I understand. But no contest is a joke. Kind of ashamed that you feel this way, but not surprised. It's the safe opinion. But to be honest, MJ made a bigger impact. Who's the bigger artist? Michael Jackson, no contest there. But Prince got like 6 classics at least. Michael has 3 and one really solid album. The musicality side, Prince wins. The entertainment side, Michael wins. In an Anime, Prince would be the swelteringly charismatic and villainous antagonist. Michael Jackson would be the guy who's equally as charismatic, but still viewed as the underdog. In reality, Prince was the underdog. He kinda ruined people's opinion of him when he refused to do "We Are The World" with Michael Jackson and those goofs who couldn't hold a note or carry a tune to save their lives. There's many factors as to why most people feel this way about Michael. Also, Quincy Jones was already a legend in his own right. Having that behind you, you can do no wrong. Prince had to become his own Quincy Jones. Think about that. Basically, all I'm saying is, it's closer than we think. But they're two completely different types of animals in the music industry. Only thing Prince and Michael had in common was that they were Black and Popular at the same time. Also, they were reportedly really good friends, but with the weirdest type of camaraderie you could think of. Michael wasn't as competitive. Prince was the aggressor. Probably because he realized that Michael was more ubiquitously beloved naturally. Michael Jackson in The 60's and 70's tho > * Their s--- was really an art. Bottom line: Their careers boast a similar feat of mastering quintessential performance artistry. However, they remained to exist as dichotomously polarizing figures in their own right. Borderline absurd comparison. A better comparison would be Carlos Santana or Prince and Jimi Hendrix or Prince. Santana and Hendrix would probably be more landslide victories than Michael. And compare Michael to Jeffery Osbourne (Guy who taught him how to moonwalk.) or James Brown. He'd trail and trump Osbourne, but he'd be neck and neck with James Brown.
Dec 12, 2018 you should listen to prince's albums. he's got albums that are just as good as those MJ albums you named. 1999, purple rain and sign o the times are equally as good as MJ's big 3 this isn't directed at you, but i don't get how anyone could like one of these guys a lot more than the other--if they've listened to each artist thoroughly. i understand if you prefer one over the other, but like @Jay Zeus "no contest is a joke" these dudes are pretty much neck and neck
Dec 12, 2018 I was exposed to way more Michael Jackson so he wins because if that. Prince Chappelle skit giving prince a close second tho.
Dec 12, 2018 I'll listen to some Prince albums because actually I should have already done that long time ago. Agreed with 2nd part completely. That's why I didn't actually say one is better than the other...
Dec 12, 2018 Michael Jackson. Quite easily I think too, not as familiar with Prince as I am Jackson but he's never overly interested me.
Dec 12, 2018 My instant reaction is Michael but Prince's stuff is magnificent. I'm well overdue to dive into his stuff a bit more after starting earlier in the year.
Dec 12, 2018 Come is my favorite Prince album. 1990's Prince was so underrated. Last album before he started naming himself a symbol, and eventually going back to his government name in 2002 when he released One Nite Alone (Dope a--- collection of live-sets.).
