Dec 11, 2018 slightly. AML has higher highs but i feel like he gives us waaay more material on bti, just as cohesive and barely any filler
Dec 11, 2018 6.5/10 I actually really like this album more than what my rating suggests. This was where Bino started to transition past the heavily Lil Wayne-inspired cosplay that was on his previous tapes although that bad habit still came back every now and then. The concept of the album was pretty cool although the songs sometimes didn't click like they should; he has a great ear for hooks & melodies so there's always an ear-worm moment but the writing still had moments of immaturity, something he'll amend with time. The one thing I won't ever complain about BTI or any of Gambino's projects is the awesome production. This one is mostly psychedelic but it varies marvelously, each act feels like a different project altogether. If only the execution was better BTI would have been phenomenal but those small moments in each song merit a listen, more importantly Bino saw that he had the freedom to make all kinds of music in the future, his evolution since this album has been great!
Dec 11, 2018 7.5/10 Haven't listened to this in years but it used to be a personal favourite. It's cool to look back on the themes of this album considering what the internet has become. I think I would still consider this his best album, with Awaken My Love being a close second. One of my favourite things about this album is the thought and effort you can tell he put into it. Some of it doesn't land as well, but it's worth appreciating. Favourite songs are Telegraph Ave., Urn, and Zealots of Stockholm.
Dec 11, 2018 PLAYAAAAAAA HAAAAAAATAAAAAAAAAA Turn ya head 'round. Lay on the ground. YOU'VE BEEN ROBBBBBBBED! 'Bout to play this s---, too. BRB.
Dec 11, 2018 d--- right, T.I.'s favorite neglected protégé. Used to love your song with Trey Songz (Da Baddest.) Trey was at his best. How you gon' let a R&B Singer renegade your rapping and he was featured on your song though. Always wondered about that.
Dec 11, 2018 n-----, it's the absolute best Outkast album. f--- wrong witchoo, Young Post-Checker Catfish Beignet?
Dec 12, 2018 @Jay Zeus or anyone else for that matter, you can rate the albums you missed if you want to, I dont mind updating the score
Dec 12, 2018 Duly noted. I gotta listen to Ready to Die and Blueprint again. I'll probably have a thorough blurb and solidified rating for those two, as well as Aquemini, by tomorrow night. Thank you.
Dec 12, 2018 Gambino is awful as a general rule and this is easily his worst project. It’s pretentious, self-indulgent, fake-deep nonsense made by a man with none of the talent or charisma to back it up. Pseudo-intellectual Kanye West fanfiction for hipsters. 2/10
Dec 12, 2018 His music is wittier than almost anything out there. And most of it is great to vibe to, so I definitely disagree with your perspective on it. I do think some of his more recent funk and soulful music is subpar compared to his hip-hop/rap stuff.
Dec 13, 2018 Because The Internet gets a 6.5/10 from 7 ratings A reminder that you’re welcome to rate previous albums if you missed out, just post them, tag me and I'll update scores. Anyways, next up… RATING 12: Future - DS2 Release Date: 17 July 2015 Label: A1 / Epic / Freebandz Tracklist 01. I Thought It Was a Drought 02. I Serve the Bass 03. Where Ya At ft. Drake 04. Know the Meaning (Bonus) 18. f--- Up Some Commas (Bonus) From Monster to Beast Mode to 56 Nights and a litany of high-profile, show-stealing guest appearances, the the hype building up to DS2 was immense. Waiting for this album to drop felt like I was back in the 2000’s waiting for new Eminem or Lil Wayne. And Future did not disappoint, crafting, in my opinion, one of the most important and influential albums of the decade. Almost exclusively produced by Metro Boomin (who arguably produced the best batch of instrumentals of his entire career on this), DS2 takes the heart-wrenching sorrow of Monster, the playful debauchery of Beast Mode and the all-out trap-fest that was 56 Nights and brings it all together for the ultimate, clinical trap masterpiece. To be fair, its not as good as Monster, which is essentially perfect. Theres'a a slight lag in the middle of the album (Freak Hoe, Rotation) where things get a little repetitive. But besides from that, if you allow yourself to dive into the pool of codeine head-first, you'll find one of the darkest, murkiest, emotional and simultaneously energetic (Groupies is the definition of slap) albums in recent memory. Also, “I just f----- your b---- in some Gucci flip flops” is the most iconic opening line of the 2010s. Maybe of all time. I give it an 8.5/10. @RateThisAlbum
Dec 13, 2018 9.3/10 Masterpiece, every song is Future at his best. You get Future both reveling in his anger and in his pain, his best emotions. It's so fkn good I can't stress this enough. Can't decide if I'd rate it over Monster but they are neck and neck to me. Favourites are Thought It Was a Drought, The Percocet & Stripper Joint, Rich $ex, Colossal, etc. There are no least favs cmon get real
