This is an interesting point. True, we had all those projects but I'm pretty sure DS2 was at least the mainstream and commercial peak of all of them. I think it probably piqued a lot of people's interest in Future (and trap music in general), brought a lot of people around to checking out those projects you listed as well and definitely solidified Future into a position amongst the best rappers alive at that time (and one of the peak creative outputs of the decade).

And yes, like you said its not as good as Monster, maybe not even as good as BM and 56 Nights, but it does feature some of Future's best music ever. I find myself returning more to this than any other Future project tbh. It may be closer to a legacy solidifying album than a purely creative project, but I still think its a vital moment in 2010s rap.

I’ve never liked Drake. I’m just not invested in his story and find a lot of music cringy. Plus his output post IYTR has been all over the place. But ever since I first caught wind of him from his feature on Wayne’s Dedication 3 mixtape way back in 08, his massive presence has kept me checking out his albums every time a new one drops. Supported by a handful of enormous singles and of course, the highly publicised beef with Pusha (where, I thought Drake actually held his own, for a little while at least), Scorpion came out ok, in my opinion. Its not nearly as bad as its been made out to be. The Drake on Disc 1 is the Drake I tend to prefer and while there are the typical few slip ups, I think its a pretty solid effort. The production alone warrants some serious recognition. Despite some incredible standouts, Disc 2 is where I really lose interest, somewhere between the ugly instrumental on Summer Games and the incredibly insipid Ratchet Happy Birthday. One of Drake’s better albums is buried somewhere in here. But a full 90 minutes of Aubrey is just too much.

    I give it a 6.5/10.

Drakes albums have been declining ever since NWTS for me. Theres some good songs on here but nothing really eye catching or classic. I also agree with you regarding the length after listening to disc 1, i never really had the urge to carry on listening to disc 2 although theres decent songs on there too. Having said that I'd probably give it 6/10 being generous.

Waay to long. I can get the 2 different discs but never feel the desire to listen to this from start to finish. Also this doesn't have a song like One Dance that sticks. Gods Plan and Nice For What are dope singles though. Blue Tint and After Dark are my favorite songs of this.. 6.5/10

First of all, Side B > Side A
This album's a lot better than people make it out to be. Sure, it's weaker than his other albums but it's still a good body of work.
Once people stop looking at it in the light of the drama around it (if ever), it'll be received better. It's got a s--- ton of tracks but none that I would say are outright bad.
My main complaint would be that songs like I'm Upset don't really fit on what's supposed to be Drake's big autobiographical album or whatever, seems like the type of thing to leave for a mixtape or a feature.
Favourite songs are Nice For What, Ratchet Happy Birthday, Summer Games, Can't Take a Joke, etc.

First time I listened to this album, I was like wow this is good. But guess I was the one that actually good that day because after that I give it another listen and kinda get bored. Album is soo long. I kinda agree with Michael Myers here with this doesn't have any song that really sticks. Sure, Kiki song is huge but it's just a lot wacker than songs like Headlines, even Hotline Bling to me lol. The song might as well be just a minute Drake saying the hook again and again, nobody would missed the verse and stupid parts at the end. God's plan and Nice For What were really good singles yes.

It's really hard for me to rate this one but I guess I'll go with 7/10. Btw, I don't think this was significantly worse than previous Drake albums anyway. All of his albums are pretty close to me and they are all above average. Not counting If You're Reading this sdjakdnas album.

really bad album, too long, only good songs were singles, cringe and bad attempts to look good after pusha destroyed him, cringe rollout, cringe cover, massive step back after more life.

Just relistened to this and it's slightly more cohesive than I thought. Still a ton of filler and soulless singles. I never was a Drake fan, but this is low even for his standards.
    Disc 2 is terrible.

The majority of the songs on this aren’t flat out BAD but the album just kinda retains a base of “this is fine” throughout other than some standouts like God’s Plan, Blue Tint, Nice for What, Sandra’s Rose, etc. The album’s so unforgivably long for no reason other than to stick to the side A/B thing (that it doesn’t even really stick to). Finding the diamonds in the rough has never been worth listening to the whole album for me.

I was 3 years old when this album dropped. Which makes it kinda weird that its my favourite album ever. 9 emcees, 1 producer, just under 1 hour of unbridled, raw, uncut, chaos. RZA’s production is total anarchy, melding together clips from old Kung Fu movies, absolutely filthy instrumentals that conjures of up imagery of getting stomped out on the curb, all with a psychotic, haphazard twist, that makes you feel like you’re dangling off a cliff shrouded in PCP smoke. Wu-Tang is basically the Avengers; 9 superheroes with unrivalled superpowers joining forces to take on the universe. Ol’ Dirty b------ screeching like a demented crack-head, while Rae and Ghost trade street tales and the Rebel INS drops in for an occasional tongue-twisting slaughter. GZA and RZA’s voices boom with authority while m---’s there to add in the smoked-out finishing touches. Even the gravelly “raw I’mma give it to ya” U-God’s power is undeniable (and s---, don’t forget Wu’s best kept secret, Masta Killa, who drops one of the best verse of the album on Da Mystery of Chessboxin). This album is perfect, in every way. There is so much energy, so much raw, talent, world’s colliding and exploding outwards in pandemonium on wax. 36 Chambers revolutionised hip hop in every way imaginable and brought to The Wu to the fore, one of the most important hip hop movements in hip hop history. 25 odd years later and you can still hear the aftershocks reverberating through the very fiber of rap music. Its true what they say, Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nuthin ta f--- wit. I give it a perfect 10/10.
