Mar 23, 2019 I don't think I can name a single Wale song. I know he has a Seinfeld themed mixtape, which I've been meaning to check out for the last 10 years lol. I know he had that one song with the Roots and another song with Lady Gaga. And he was on that first MMG compilation, which I liked (although that was more the Meek and Ross show). And then more recently a very mid song with Lil Wayne. And thats about it. Educate me
Mar 23, 2019 Never really heard of Wale, huh? Its probably best to start off with The Mixtape About Nothing then work your way on really. After that, you could go to More About Nothing, Back To The Feature, 100 Miles And Running or Eleven1Eleven. Preferably the first one but cant go wrong with any of them. Folarin isnt too bad either, it has a little mix of everything, some bangers, some slow jams, and even a Diplo song for some reason. And Chinx Drugz and Lightshow are on it too. Irrelevant really, but just had to mention. My personal favorite mixtape from him. Album wise, start with Attention Deficit. That might be the best Wale project. They you could just go in order from there, but personally, id go through Attention Deficit, The Gifted, Ambition, Album About Nothing, then Shine. He's got a couple EP's out there if you want to check those out too. Noting that Wale is very inconsistent with his work, especially during the early 10's, might not bother you though. Anything else about Wale that needed to be ask, I'm here.
Mar 23, 2019 @WheresTheMeat officially best new member on this (dead) site. You know so much s--- man! I'mma start off with the Seinfeld tape and take it from there.
Mar 24, 2019 The Album About Nothing was my favorite project of his, tbh (I'm also a seinfeld stan though)
Mar 24, 2019 Always thought he was a little overhated but he brought it upon himself with some of his comments if I recall
Mar 24, 2019 I'm halfway through the Mixtape About Nothing and my mind is blown. How have I not listened to this before?
Mar 25, 2019 @YNW Squiddy the Dua Lipa collab is nice lmao. Never really cared for him (heard him on other people's songs) but some tracks posted here are not bad at all. Might tag along w @Sav Stanfield here and use this thread.
Mar 25, 2019 So far The Mixtape About Nothing is a must-listen. Especially if you're a Seinfeld fan. Listening to Attention Deficit now, seems pretty good so far
Mar 25, 2019 More about nothing is underated af Essential wale projects. Mixtape about nothing Attention defecit (my fav project of his) More about nothing Album about nothing Ambition
Mar 25, 2019 Been travelling around all day so I've just been listening to Wale. Its been interesting. Mixtape About Nothing is an incredibly good project. I'm especially interested in the time when it came out, just as the ringtone era was about to end (theres a lot of references to it on here). It must have been refreshing to hear a project like this in the midst of that era. All in all he comes across as seriously talented and promising emcee, with loads of charisma and humor. Whats weird is that that doesn't really carry over onto his debut Attention Deficit. Its an ok album, just pretty generic and a bit all over the place. Doesnt really build on the promise of Mixtape About Nothing. A lot of the songs have aged pretty badly. Whats even more interesting is his debut on MMG, Ambition. I was curious to see how we slotted in, and he definitely switched his style up to fit more into the label's aesthetic. He sounds like a midway point between Ross and Meek Mill but without any of the charm and cleverness that he had on his previous projects. He just sounds flat. There's a bunch of standout songs (the title track knocks) and the production is generally good, but the levels of generic are through the roof. More than half of this album is forgettable/throwaway s---. I'm really interested to hear The Album About Nothing now, might circle back to hear his other mixtapes if I'm not completely sick of him by then. Overall glad I checked him out, he's been a pretty big presence in hip hop, but seems like he'll forever be hanging around that third-tier level.
