Apr 19, 2019 I mean Eminem aside, Yelawolf, and slaughterhouse are crazy talented, but by nature super gritty (like EM in his younger days). Has Em's management destroyed the potential these guys could have had in the last decade?
Apr 19, 2019 D12 and Obie Trice wouldn't have had much (if any) success without Shady 50 (and G Unit)would have been a star regardless Stat Quos an interesting one... He did have a pretty good mixtape run while he was there but I guess there might have been potential without Shady Green Lantern seemed to do just fine on his own. Although I would have loved to hear that rumored Shady album he was working on Cashis and Creekwater probably wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway Yela's career would probably have followed a similar trajectory, although he might have had a better debut Yeah, Shady totally f----- up Slaughterhouse. They should have gone the Run the Jewels/Czarface route. Surprisingly, great move for Boogie Hoping the Griselda deal produces a similar effect as it did for Boogie. Guess we'll find out in June overall its up and down, wouldn't say its a death blow. But generally not great.
Apr 19, 2019 I agree with everything Sav said, especially that Slaughterhouse part. d---, I wish they stayed independent. Their first album is one of my favorites. You can clearly tell Paul wanted (or Em, who knows) to make them radio, whole Shady 2.0 era was kinda driven by radio plays, idk. I just hope we gon get Glasshouse someday.
Apr 19, 2019 Nah the fact that D12, Obie, Cashis, Bobby and Stat couldn’t carry themselves ruined their careers. 50 owes Em a lot but he would’ve been fine by himself. Not as big obviously but he woulda made it somehow. Yela was f---ing dope as f--- before Shady, then his first album s----d, but he’s pulled it back and carried himself back to being great again. Slaughterhouse was a disaster but Em was only trying to help. Joe Budden being a c---- ruined their chances of proving themselves and coming back. Boogie is so far so good.
Apr 20, 2019 Obie should have had different singles and more of a push. Cheers is fantastic. 50 cent was the most hyped rapper to hit the scene. Slaughterhouse were a bunch of lyrical dudes that never would if made it mainstream huge huge. Just wast there style Yelawolf did decent. I know he gets a lot of hate on here but whatever. Cashis county hound ep is underrated as f---. Stat quo got over looked because of his single back in the day but he had some good s--- on his mixtapes.
Apr 23, 2019 agree with you except with cashis he was really hit or miss but he had a LOT of potential. I mean lac motion was really weird but dope
Apr 25, 2019 It wasn’t rumored, it was a real project in the works. I got a little ad for it when I bought Cheers
Apr 25, 2019 Shady Records has generally been a graveyard for artists, yes. At least as far as a listener is concerned. I'm sure it's more complicated behind the scenes. There's been no momentum behind that label since like 03-04. Slaughterhouse were so badly handled that it boggles the mind. The pre-release mixtape was better than the album
Apr 26, 2019 ngl i did love the County Hound EP. Something about Cashis over those Em beats just clicked.
Apr 26, 2019 Only 50 and D12 were successful on this label, and that was until 2007. After 2007, the label died and could not be resurrected. These 2 projects were very successful in the United States and around the world. Multiplatinum albums, Top 10 in charts, and so on. Obie Trice, Yelawolf and Boogie somewhere at the same level of popularity in their best years. Pretty average level of fame. The potential of these artists was not fully disclosed and they were given little promo. Cashis, Stat Quo, Bobby, Slaughterhouse & Hall N Nash practically had no promo, only some mentions and very weak sales.
