Jul 23, 2019 Lil yachty has mostly s----d since his first mixtape and lil xan has always s----d. There are new gen rappity rappers that s--- a--- and melodic trap rappers that s--- a--- too. They’re not mutually exclusive.
Jul 23, 2019 I will say that kodak’s more recent music is more melodic and has pockets of lazy writing because he takes a more freeform approach, but he still had tons of songs with really great/tight writing. Testimony for example is both melodic and well written.
Jul 23, 2019 IMO Joyner is waay underrated, he can do both and I loved how he destroyed them on their own beats ^^
Jul 23, 2019 Took a history of rock and roll class (basically, it was just a history of all music) and for the final it was just present an artist that came out in the last 5 years. Some dude put on suicide boys and then the next kid played NF. Most embarrassed I’ve been for someone until some kid went up there and tried to argue that Eminem was the main influence in chance the rappers sound. It’s pretty crazy how generally clueless most people are on music.
Jul 23, 2019 None specifically, just the ones that don't bring much new to the table and just rap over the same boring beats others do. But Blueface, playboy carti, and Yatchy are examples of rappers I dont like really. Also Joyner and Logic are that rappity trying to be deep rap, pass as well lol.
Jul 23, 2019 Please explain how Kodak has any music with “great/tight” writing. One of the worst rappers in the game right now.
Jul 23, 2019 Anyone who mumbles or uses auto tune. That s--- if f---ing terrible. Can’t listen to it at all. No skill. End of.
Jul 23, 2019 I just better not see YBN Cordae's name on this thread. Smack you n----s. Stop f---in' flockin' and jockin' to every Soundcloud Rapper just 'cause it's the cool the thing to do. Some of them n----s are failed experiments and that's plain to see. I listen to a lot of melody-driven contemporary rap, but Cordae is going to go places. As soon as someone says he sucks or is corny, it's over. And I'll know that you n----s are conformists. I like what I like, but the superior artist will always be the ones with a greater purpose than even they could initially understand. As it stands, I honestly ain't checkin' for Skies or Pump. My list is short because I don't really like to focus on what my ears "WOULDN'T" prefer. I pride myself on having a pretty open mind.
Jul 24, 2019 Ehh believe it or not I have a pretty hefty criteria for soundcloud rappers that I actually get into. Like I never liked Lil Skies (only mentioned him because @Jay Zeus brought him up) outside of his work with Landon Cube and a few of his choruses (on Juicy J and Gnar’s tracks) Uhhh other rappers like Icy Narco, Kid Buu, and like 90% of Adam22’s interviews I never really even gave a chance.
