Aug 18, 2019 Jay is #1, not really close. Then in rough order, it’s: Big Ghostface Wayne p---- C Andre Ice Cube Snoop Pac Nas
Aug 18, 2019 I’m truthfully the same way. I listen to rap for mostly wordplay, and also production/flow are important .
Aug 18, 2019 same, I enjoy guys who can write and rap their a--- off. production as far as beats, I usually don't dive into that much, I focus so much on bars and cadence that I don't pay too much attention to the beat until several listens in.
Aug 18, 2019 Saw em at 28, i know smh was wrong but budden on no 3 ? Thats definitely made by budden himself lol. Biggest bs list ever. I dont care what anybody here would say but ask everybody in the world, in overall em would easily come out on top as the best rapper ever. So no need to discuss who is the best. But who would u put in your top 10 ? Which rappers would u put in your top 10 for the last 10 years ? Thats even a better question. I'm not sure if i can say 10 rappers i really enjoyed a full album by and listen to more than twice in the last 6 7 years except kendrick, em, snoop and dre...
Aug 18, 2019 Omg fabolous better than biggie ? f--- off already lol. Styles p ?!! Seriously, styles p is in nobody's top 10 ever. How the f--- did they manage put him there anyway
Aug 18, 2019 i love you all but you're all stuck in 2004 lmao. I've never seen Xzibit and Chamillionaire being mentioned so much in goat conversations
Aug 18, 2019 We talking OAT so the dusthead mention is not relevant here.. people also mention pac and biggie they are dead for over 20 years.. u should comment on that as well then bro
Aug 18, 2019 That's totally fair if that's what you listen to rap for, but you gotta admit there's more artists who pack in lyrics like that that make you have to rewind and listen multiple times like ghostface or GZA
Aug 18, 2019 I dont know if dustiness detracts from Goat status? I mean Kool G Rap and Rakim are dusty af and have definitely slid down the list over the years to make way for better newer artists but I think they are more deserving on an (objective) top 10 list than say, Xzibit? or Fabolous? Pac and Big made universally acclaimed, timeless, genre-defining music that was so influential you can still hear it today. Same goes for Outkast, Ghost, Jay, Nas, Wayne. Eminem too. Nothing against Chamillionaire and Xzibit, especially if we're talking personal preference (I'm a big fan fan of both) but I'm not sure either of them of them belong in the same conversation tbh
Aug 18, 2019 For me I always have 2 lists... my “favorite” rappers and the “best” rappers. They overlap but I have rappers that I listen to a lot but know objectively they aren’t that influential or skilled (ASAP Ferg). Another example on the other end is someone like Jay-Z. I don’t listen to him much and never cared for his style that much, however he is still one of the greatest rappers of all time. I am still very familiar with his discography and music but I rarely listen to him and would defend him to death to belong on a Top 10 list.
