Aug 19, 2019 While he may be the best, Kendrick is not even close to the top 3 most influential in the 2010s.
Aug 20, 2019 I always wondered , isn't it just cool that u make fantastic music? Who gives a s--- about influence? Obviously when it comes to icons or legends that is kinda important but 'best rappers' I don't see how thats relevant.
Aug 20, 2019 Yeah I suppose I should have specified in OP whether we were listing objective or personal favourite lists - I think i’ve always just thought of my own list in the context of both, there’ll always be an element of bias no matter how objective you try be. @joeyp363 hit the nail on the head though.
Aug 20, 2019 alright i’m late on this but Nelly is absolutely deserving of a spot. 50 too, even if it’s just off the strength of GRODT. I’ve always thought Danny’s brown has had a lot more influence than he’s given credit for. Yeah Em was - and still is, to some extent, a very good lyricist but to say the Goat is a stretch. He may have come very close back in the early 2000s but Em never reached the heights of Jay or Nas or Big. Or Ghostface or Doom or Andre. In terms of 2010s influence and impact, Kendrick and Future are neck and neck at this point imo. Both totally different approaches but equally effective. Honestly though, it’s probably Future, for the reasons @Big Cuntry already pointed out.
Aug 20, 2019 Did you get round to listening to any of them? Very interested in your opinion on all 3 projects!
Aug 20, 2019 1 Eminem 2 slim shady 3 Marshall Mathers 4 bizarre 5 swifty the murderer of rhymes Mcgay 6 kon artist 7 kuniva 8 proof 9 bugz 10 paul
Aug 20, 2019 I totally get it. I like to write the lyrics down on paper in pure bar format while listening to the integrity and structure of the vocals and examine they closely to make sure I don’t miss anything. Every once in a while something’s slips by me and I go, “no he didn’t just say that” then rewind it and go “nope he totally said it”
Aug 20, 2019 I think its definitely reasonable to put Em in a greatest rappers of all time list. hate him or love him, he’s widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever do it. and there was that stage around 00-02 where he was genuinely in contention for best rapper alive. but THE goat is a stretch.
Aug 20, 2019 1. Tupac 2. Biggie 3. Jay-Z 4. Rakim 5. Eminem 6. Scarface 7. Ice Cube 8. Lil Wayne 9. Black Thought 10. Andre 3000 Constantly changing. I also tried to base this on skill more than preference. My personal top 10 does have Budden at 3 at least. Lol
Aug 21, 2019 ehhh I dunno, that's a bit of a stretch no? Nas' last two projects were very underwhelming, but Eminem put out an atrocious album (Revival) and then an album throwing a temper tantrum because nobody liked it lol it's kind of embarrassing for any Eminem fan, I think.
Aug 21, 2019 This is literally a perfect list based on skill. Maybe not the exact order I would have it in but great!
Aug 22, 2019 Life is Good s----s on any Em album post TES but no matter how you describe Kamikaze, its more interesting than Nasir and LT2 imo.
Aug 22, 2019 It’s all subjective based on what you prefer but there’s a shortlist of guys that it’s really hard to argue over and then there’s Jay who is the closest thing to objectively being the greatest ever and we conclude it in the thread every time someone posts this so Biggie is pound for pound the best when it comes to every attribute that goes into making a good rapper/artist and I will argue this forever with anyone Edit: and I ain’t saying pound for pound cause he fat either
