Nov 17, 2019 I agree beats on "Compton" were amazing, album is pretty much 10/10 for me, but I wouldn't say these beats were better than some of the Kanye stuff for instance.
Nov 17, 2019 2001 came out when I started my junior year of high school smh. I remember me and my friends smoking blunts to this album nearly every day for months on end. This album has so many timeless songs. One of my fondest memories from this time though was going to The Up in Smoke Tour the following summer and seeing some of the 2001 songs performed live. Plus seeing all the classics performed by Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Xzibit, Em, the D.O.C., Nate Dogg, etc., the s--- was like a hip hop music festival the way they brought together so many amazing acts on stage at the same time. I’ve been to dozens of concerts and this is probably the best live show I’ve ever seen. The production value was phenomenal (ice cube came down from the rafters inside a f---ing ice cube lmao), the sound quality was impeccable, and all the performers put on a fantastic show. Can’t believe its been 20 years since 2001 came out. What the f---.
Nov 17, 2019 So is Dre going to give us anything new on a 20 Year Release? Or are one of you high and mighty Aftermath janitors since 1996 bout to leak some s--- cause Dre didn't give you a raise since this dropped? Don't blame it on Stat Quo being fired either lol
Nov 17, 2019 Most Dr. Dre beats from 1999-2001 were leftovers meant for this album at one point, I don't see a single one fitting this album honestly besides Remember Me's and Fast Lane (Remix). I love that Fast Lame beat but I really don't like Bilal's voice....
Nov 18, 2019 I'd say that because I never really thought Kanye beats were that good. There is smh about Dre beats that sounding a lot more better, maybe it's just because I like more of his drum sounds. Never liked Kanye's drumkits except few exceptions.
Nov 18, 2019 I envy you more than anything. I've been to lore concerts than I can remember and seen and hung out with some great artists and have grown up on hip-hop but the ONE thing I regret is never getting an opportunity to go to the Up in Smoke Tour. I even re-watched the DVD about 6 months ago. So amazing! I remember there were heavy rumours of an Up in Smoke Tour 2 a few years after and I was going to fly to wherever I could in America for a weekend just to be able to go to this. No exaggeration, my and my mates had it all organised. Just needed venues and dates! That was a longway to go from the UK but I would've done it in a heartbeat. You're a lucky, lucky man. I hope you've got photos/merch etc to help you ever such a great time!
Nov 18, 2019 Why is this post all of me, from watching the DVD recently, to organising a planned trip with a squad to see Up in Smoke Tour 2 from UK to USA lmao Lifetime ambition is to go back in time & be in that crowd, somehow I don't think that's feasibly achievable. Now I'm sad.
Nov 19, 2019 Sorry to bring up old memories man! But at least it's a good memory to bring up. Even if it never came true.
Nov 19, 2019 I'm sad I missed the Coachella reunion too. Oh well, the Snoop tour with Warren G, Dogg Pound & D12 should be a blast!
Nov 19, 2019 Yep, got my tickets to that a week or so early through O2 priority! I might be working at the O2 Arena by then as well so may try to host an after party for them all in my potential new bar.
Nov 19, 2019 What are your thoughts on Czarface meets Metalface? It’s my least favorite Czarface album. DOOM seemed phoned in.
