Dec 2, 2019 Saw it at the theater and then on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. Especially the soundtrack and the cast. A Who’s Who of Scorsese film alumni, Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire alumni. Even the sitter from Goodfellas is in this. Pesci and Pacino really stole the show. I’m glad this film exists and that these actors had this moment together. This definitely feels like a Swan Song.
Dec 2, 2019 that beating was kinda funny because you could see his obvious old man moves.. maybe the more distracting thing overrall were his blue eyes tho
Dec 6, 2019 I’m willing to overlook the de-aging stuff for the most part but that beating outside the store was too flagrant. Also when he first takes out his 2nd wife, he looks like an old man with a young hooker as they walk across the street. Those scenes could have been handled differently.
Dec 9, 2019 Scorsese has had a very strong decade. 2010 - SHUTTER ISLAND 2011 - HUGO 2013 - THE WOLF OF WALL STREET 2016 - SILENCE 2019 - THE IRISHMAN and the decade before... 2002 - GANGS OF NEW YORK 2004 - THE AVIATOR 2006 - THE DEPARTED THE GOAT
Dec 10, 2019 Gangs of New York the worst one and it’s not even bad... Scorsese is really one of the best directors alive, if not the best
Dec 10, 2019 DDL saved GONY. His performance is the main reason why I revisit the film. I'd have to agree with the statement about him being the best director alive. He is a master of taking meaty stories and pulling them off in such a satisfying way.
