Jan 25, 2020 No he didn’t. You better be ready for the new mlb. I’m 1-0 against you. At least TimmyT held his word and played madden. Even though I’m not discussing the outcome of the games. I’ve even been taking all my coins out of my car and jug and wrapping them up so I can buy the new Show the first day it’s out. So you can’t make fun of me like you did in that one thread. MLB is my best sports game. I may be done with the pirates though over the Marte and Cole situations. I’ll be using my favorite team.
Jan 25, 2020 yeah the scores are the scores, i have nothing to do with what any other eminem album was given. i also never really think of things in pitchfork-score terms, if i'm rating an album i'm thinking 1-5 mics. idea here was like "look, all critics have spent the decade snarkily trashing him and looking at his work through moral and celebrity terms, let's write about him as part of a stylistic lineage."
Jan 25, 2020 Soo... writing an even keeled review that isn’t silly knee jerk and puts Eminem in context - huh!
Jan 25, 2020 Just a reminder that @WPG does not write his own reviews.. he was caught several times on Rb and SL freelancing other writers mimicking other people reviews.
Jan 25, 2020 So you are saying Em at 47 years old is too old to have relationships and rap about them??
Jan 25, 2020 I still think this album's really messy but what I appreciate most about it after a few listens is it feels like there's actually a personality behind it. So much of his 2010s music is so...robotic. Like Relapse/Encore are not good albums but it at least they feel like you're listening to Marshall Mathers.
Jan 25, 2020 yes, and the primary reason this album isn’t better is that it still lapses into that anonymous s--- like 40 percent of the time
Jan 25, 2020 ignore the score, the review is really fair. I think the album was surprisingly interesting for the most part. some things that he's been incredibly stubborn about have been tweaked enough to work in some areas on the album, which is kind of fun. eminem is obviously a supremely talented technician and it's still fun to hear him get in his pocket and make you nod your head rather than cover your ears like a lot of us did on any of his other albums from the 2010s.
Jan 25, 2020 reader beware: this is the same critic who wrote off Kamikaze over one politically incorrect line in Fall, a line Eminem immediately apologized for after backlash from the left and has carefully not repeated since. you can almost certainly attribute this as well as Eminem's continued support for leftist causes (eg gun control) to the relatively positive MTBMB review
Jan 25, 2020 you’re thinking of someone else. that line on kamikaze barely registered to me, and the last graf of this review is about how the gun control song here isn’t very good.
Jan 25, 2020 this is right but to @WPG’s point, those instincts aren’t entirely gone. Hence, like, that Ed Sheeran collab and the s-----y love songs
Jan 25, 2020 I think everyone is agreement (even the stans) that the s-----y love songs about faceless women need to stop lol. It’s kind of crazy that he’s still making songs like that 10 years after Recovery lol.
