Jun 18, 2020 I appreciate Recovery because for the most part it was the last time the guy was capable of making a good serious song(Talking To Myself, GTC- though admittedly he came through with GOF and Fine Line out of nowhere in 2014) Less than a year after Recovery he ended the most serious song on his EP with "I'm so done with this s--- I might as well wipe" and it's been all down hill ever since. Even "fun" songs like So Bad are light years better than the Juice World track he ruined on his last album. That song was f---ing terrible bit with So Bad it at least felt like Eminem made it. Same with No Love, CWB, Cinderella Man and even Almost Famous. I haven't listened to Recovery in probably over 5 years but I'll take that over anything he has put out since.
Jun 18, 2020 Graduated highschool around when this dropped. Good times to see Em on top again. Hasn't aged the best but was Ems best since Eminem show at the time
Jun 18, 2020 I don’t really remember this Impact-wise when it dropped. I just remember how f---ing big The Way We Lie song with Rihanna was. Him throwing Wayne on here was dope too. This maybe where corny eminem started? I think he always been a lil corny tbh
Jun 19, 2020 A lot of you have a problem with eminem because you cant enjoy his sense of humor. The man is capable and actually known for being angry and serious in his songs, but hes always been a funny, comedy rapper to me. But a lot of you think his sense of humor is corny and thats where most of the problem with eminem is. I say you are all just boring and one dimensional, afraid of goofy fun because you're oh so serious, you cant laugh at stupid jokes eminem makes. But the stupid jokes and punchlines are what makes eminem unique. Sure, he may have some dumb lines here and there, but his heart is in the right place when he makes those cringey punchlines and you have to respect the fact he can be silly as well as serious or angry. I'm just sorry you cant enjoy eminem as intended. I'll take a rapper who tries to make me laugh but maybe fails over a rapper who takes himself too seriously and paints a gloomy, hard picture of himself any time.
Jun 19, 2020 Wonder if he used the quote ”music is my time machine” because on monday he is going back 10 years in time to drop some music from that time
Jun 19, 2020 You genuinely come out with some amount of sh-- mate. Handful of good serious songs since Recovery: Walk On Water, Believe, Untouchable, CASTLE, AROSE, Stepping Stone, You Gon Learn, DARKNESS.
Jun 19, 2020 i can listen to cold wind blows, seduction, so bad, cocaine, untitled. it's like a 5-track nice ep talkin 2 myself & GTC are good but bore me, i haven't listened to those much since 2012 sidenote on cold wind blows though: how lazy was eminem when he wrote that hook? he's just singing deja vu's beat melody (which was already basically SDGAF's beat's melody lol)
Jun 19, 2020 A very overlooked Eminem project. People love to s--- on Recovery, but its underrated, just like the album before it. Yes, production has a some pop elements to it. But it sounds really fantastic. This album would've aged better only if he hadn't milked that sound to death till 2017 when the world had moved to trap instrumentals. Lyrically, definetly plenty of awful punchlines, but there's still enough greatness to balance it out. Cold Wind Blows, Talkin' 2 Myself, On Fire, GTC, Seduction, No Love, Space Bound, Almost Famous still bump really hard till this day. This album introduced me to hip hop. Got shittons of memories with this one. 8.5/10 and around his 6th best. However, the biggest L was not including "Cocaine" and "Fly Away" and instead opting for WBD and WTP.
