i often revisit this album and i am high or what but there’s something to the mixing and mastering of this album that just doesn’t feel quite right. i mean maybe kanye wanted to keep it a bit gritty

He wanted it mixed and mastered like a 90s wu-tang or mobb deep album on purpose

what you’re saying is absolutely true—compare the sound of this album, the depth of the mixes specifically, to late registration

vocals too loud and i swear its at the mastering process where they do this music in the 90s adn early 200's was mixed perfectly

It has that “Loudness” mastering technique they’ve been doing since 2010(?) and onwards. Compress it all & amplify it. They know the majority of listeners aren’t using high end equipment/output’s anymore, streaming services & digital processors. Shame.

Usually to combat this you can cop a vinyl as they require a quieter master as they can only handle lower audio signals. Maybe MBDTF vinyl press is a better sound, can anyone testify to this?

I have it on vinyl and there’s a noticeable difference between it and the 808s and LR vinyls. 10 year anniversary is coming up. Maybe a remaster

It's sad it sounds unmastered or something. Graduation beats were fire. And late registration. I feel the same way about some of Em' songs in the past 10 years that they weren't mixed right or mastered right. Back in the day every beat or the way his s--- was mixed was flawless.
