Aug 3, 2020 Agree to disagree? Kamikaze felt cohesive. Even when it dips into songs like Normal it doesn’t feel out of place to me because of the tone it’s done in. Only song I truly dislike on that album is Nice Guy. (Good Guy I find to be actually decent however.) My problem with MTBMB is it’s lack of cohesiveness. Felt like a mix of Revival (with more polish) and Kamikaze to me. No doubt Em went off on a good portion of the album but the SONGS themselves aren’t hitting for me. Feels like a mixtape almost. So many features and the last thing I wanted on earth was another Ed Sheeran collab. And why is Young MA saying Wobble wobble shake it shake it immediately after such a great intro? Throws me off. I literally have to skip the song because of her. Other tracks are decent but nothing that hits me like Lucky You or the Ringer. h--- go ahead and throw Greatest and Stepping Stone in the mix too, I wish I dug it like you guys but it just fell short imo
Aug 3, 2020 Album is terrible. From the title of it. To the beats. To the 13 yr old writing. His worst album to date.
Aug 5, 2020 The moment I heard the album - and I heard it the MOMENT IT DROPPED - I disliked it. Wellll, I like some songs on it: "Never Love Again", "In Too Deep", "Premonition"...and that's it. It's a pretty boring album tbh. Like you said, he's not saying much, he's just rambling. Everybody went nuts over the Black Thought feature, but I felt everyone was pretty plain on that song...and yes, the mixing IS atrocious, especially on that cut. I'd take Kamikaze over this any-day. The writing is just that much better on Kamikaze. "Never Love Again" is a SUPERBLY written song, though. Reminds me of his prime. It deserves more respect and more attention. Massively underrated, and better than "Darkness" from a writing perspective.
Aug 5, 2020 "Call us Long John Silvers cuz we selfish" "Call us liquid plumbers cuz even Dre knows!" Just...super unimaginative.
Aug 6, 2020 Not when the "play on words" are just random s---. What's the connection to "Long John Silvers?" There is none...it's there JUST for the purpose of the "play on words." It's lazy writing.
Aug 7, 2020 Maybe if you used the example “When I was growin' up they said a Slinky's a wonderful toy My mother thought I was such a fun little boy”. To me that’s lazy. Long John Silvers sells fish. He was making a reference. Just like any other rapper does.
