Aug 8, 2020 My unpopular opinion is they’re all trash gameplay wise. Story/concept is cool but they’re sooooo repetitive
Aug 8, 2020 I only played MGSV this year so I didn’t even know people hated it. I enjoyed it—story was convoluted as h--- but to be fair MGS storylines have always been that way lol (still haven’t played MGSIV tho). I loved Death Stranding but I understand why it wouldn’t be for some people
Aug 8, 2020 Yeah MGS has always been convoluted as h---, but I don’t think it ever went too far and stopped being believable. Considering that Kojima had no intentions of ever making a sequel when he wrote MGS1 and spent the rest of the series literally making s--- up as he went along, he managed to keep everything remarkably straight, so when when he’d do things like retcon Sigint and the Darpa Chief into one character it’s like “d---, yeah, that makes sense” MGS5 on the other hand does go too far and directly conflicts with previous games, especially 4 which it negates a huge chunk of
Aug 8, 2020 I’m glad you said this. I wasn’t really playing video games when this released so I missed out on a lot of the hype. A few weeks ago I was looking for a new game to play and was reminded of this game. I completely forgot it existed. What didn’t you like about it? From the reviews and gameplay videos I saw, it seemed really boring and looked kind of janky so I passed on it.
Aug 8, 2020 Credit where it's due, Death Stranding is creative as h---, there's literally nothing else like it out there, but all of its unique ideas don't necessarily translate to fun gameplay. It's super slow and repetitive, it's also incredibly long despite not much happening for like two thirds of the runtime. Your mileage on the story will vary. Playing Death Stranding made me come to a realisation that Konami were a necessary evil and that Kojima really needs someone there to tell him no and reign him in a little, 'cause giving him complete creative freedom ended up producing a plot so abstract that I have my doubts even he understands it.
Aug 9, 2020 Absolutely agree. Haven't played 2k in years coz they became ridiculously complacent and are more worried about the bells and whistles and exploiting their fanbase with the soul destroying micro-transactions. NBA Live was good but when pitted against each other 2k always won out imo. Once Live fell off the map that was when 2k went downhill. They made tennis back in the day too but it wasn't that big of a deal. I still remember when Live tried to evolve into Elite, and that was the nail in the coffin for them.
Aug 9, 2020 It was for this exact reason I quit FIFA and will never buy another one ever again. The meta used to be somewhat* balanced and without scripting that benefitted pay to play players. In FIFA 20 I fought my way to Division 4 in the world with a pretty decent team I grinded like crazy to earn in Ultimate Team. But once you get there it's practically impossible to compete. Sure there are either better players, which I can accept, but the ones where they just have nothing but expensive legends and all the other unaffordable players they for sure bought with their own money were so frustrating to deal with. Wish something else can compete with EA, the micro-transaction business in video games is seriously hindering everyone's experience.
Aug 9, 2020 tbh i never played revelations but disregarding that i got: AC 2, Black flag/unity (they both at the same spot for me) & AC 3
Aug 9, 2020 The only reason I stuck to buying these games is cause of the story and concept. I neglected the same-y gameplay when it was simple lol. I still haven't finished Odyssey cause of its gameplay. I really want to experience the story but the gameplay is just so trash I shut it down after 30 minutes of playing.
Aug 9, 2020 No, don't do this to me, please... Personally my all-time favorites are the Midnight Club series, damnit Rockstar just give me one more
Aug 9, 2020 I'm a bit unfamiliar with PES, but is that franchise plagued by micro-transactions also? If not, is it worthy of consideration as a FIFA alternative?
Aug 9, 2020 It's owned by Konami I believe, I know a lot of people switched to it since the gameplay is far superior apparently. What cripples it is that it has absolutely no licensing, although at this point I think no one should value cosmetics over the experience. It ended up being a similar dynamic to what you pointed out with 2K & Live earlier.
Aug 9, 2020 I understand that point of view, I just fell in love with it It was my first MGS game and I ABSOLUTELY loved it. Gameplay is possibly one of the best I've ever seen, I love how everything is connected and makes sense, how your actions actually affect the world and it just was so much fun to creep on those Russians and other "bad guys". On top of that I felt very connected to venom, because how rarely he even spoke but in every cutscene he was shown his face was telling me everything. It made total sense inside the game world (can't really comment outside of that since I still didn't play the rest of the series), one example is completing Paz storyline, like holy s---, how devastating it was to see him realizing none of that was real. I played like 150h of this game and I can't wait to play it again on next gen since my PC is not top spec
Aug 9, 2020 Same! We were supposed to get Midnight Club: Dubai but that got scrapped. LA was alright but DUB Edition Remix is the goat.
