Aug 9, 2020 I think this can be used as the example for how much Eminem has done for rap. The fact that Eminem is so much more famous globally than Snoop who is one of the O.G faces of rap just means Eminem has done more to grow the genre than anyone gives him credit for.
Aug 9, 2020 ehhhh, i dont about "so much more famous." EM can definitely sell bigger crowds and better numbers with albums. but Snoop has transcended just hip hop hes globally known too. Snoops celebrity isnt just tied to his music anymore.

But i still stand by moy original statement in that Snoops fame has transcended past just music, hes pop culture for sure. not to say Em isnt. Both of them can prolly get noticed in almost anywhere in the world. It's alot closer than people think for sure
Aug 10, 2020 Snoop is far bigger than Em will ever be......beyond music. Snoop is a cultural/national/worldwide icon and treasure. But if we’re talking albums. Doggystyle is one of the most classic rap albums of all time. But to me personally TES is one of the best rap albums if not one of the best albums by any musical artists of all time.

Aug 13, 2020 Everyone in the (Western) world has heard of Eminem. Probably a good 98-99% have heard of Snoop Dogg. In terms of name recognition, it probably is very close. "Icon" implies something more than that. Eminem's cult following (number of obsessed and semi-obsessed fans) is probably something like 200x the size of Snoop Dogg's cult following. Eminem is the biggest icon in hip hop, whether that is deserved or not is another question. Snoop is deffo top 5 in terms of name recognition. But less of an icon in other senses of the term than some rappers who may have a lower name recognition among the general public.
