Again a big nay from me

I think I listened like 2 or 3 times since this project actually dropped so Yh, a little disappointing considering it’s a Dr Dre project.

Just relistened to this for the first time in ages, solid yay. Kinda sums up what Compton was for me; it aint no Chronic or 2001 but a solid, respectable closer to a legendary career.

Yay. Compton was really good. It wasn't trying to be The Chronic, 2001 or Detox. I enjoyed it

? Why does everyone think I’m not serious? I think Compton is a great album, I just think Revival is better. I think MMLP and TES are trash and I enjoyed Shady XV and Southpaw more than his early albums. I don’t think that’s too hard to believe tbh.

Compton was adope album. I got what I wanted. Dope beats, great flows, enjoyable top notch hip hop music. The main difference between previous Dre albums and Compton was the fact that first 2 ones had g funk which was Dre's own invention. Compton had that sound which was there for years and was the most popular (trap). But Dre still made it remarkable.

    This was...a yay for me

It was never going to live up to the stratospheric heights we built the album to be. That Detox mythos grew into this imaginary monster that would never be vanquished, but at the same time there were fleeting moments in the albums (Gone, Deep Water, Diary) that honestly made the years of absence worth waiting for. The engineering was great, the guests rose to the challenge as they always do on a Dre album and even if there was no Still DRE or Nothing But a G Thang, Compton felt like one of those last major events in hip-hop where it didn't matter that much if it was that good, at least you were there to witness it happening.

Ehhh.....It's a decent, slightly above average album. It's definitely not a classic but it's far from bad. But it's pretty forgettable overall.

A good comparison would actually be Jay Z's American Gangster album: Another decent album that had good reviews and great rapping/beats but lacks a distinguishable quality that makes it comparable to Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, and The Black Album in terms of being a classic.

So, it's a Nay for me, though I can see a case for the other side.

    Compton was great.
It is probably underated because it had no hit singles or video's so came & went quite fast.
    It is a great album.

    Yay

Compton is slept on. It doesn’t have as many radio party hits as Chronic or 2001, but I consider it a third classic. If you take out the 15 year anticipation, it stands well on its own. Kendrick and Anderson Paak really shine on this album.

    gotta go nay.

my expectations for this were high because dre set the bar so high because of how good his first two albums are. compton clearly isn't as good as the first two. don't get me wrong, its not bad, especially considering how old he was when it was released. but gun to my head, gotta go nay

I feel like it won't age as well as Chronic or 2001. Sounds modern now but once we're really out of this era it will sound kinda dated.
Some songs are really boring tbh. But well I love Snoop's verse, I love Darkside/Gone, and the whole project is cohesive and actually way better than the sum of its parts like yall already said. I guess it's a yay, mostly because this is probably truer to current Dre's place in this world / state of mind / creative vision than an hypothetical updated-2001

pretty sure its been defined. not quite a Classic album, but perfectly solid victory lap that complements (if doesnt exactly match) chronic and 2001.

like how many times could dre innovate the rap game w an album.... maybe this could stand on its own in a way without ever rly trying to be detox

right—i mean, i’m not drafting a petition to get it taken off shelves, but it’s far and away his worst record and entirely inessential
