Capone: I knew where they were going with the film before seeing it. I knew it wasn’t going to be Capone in his prime but rather Capone as he descended into dementia via syphillis. That said, the movie reminds me of that famous line in Tropic Thunder- “Never go full r-----”. Tom Hardy definitely went full r-----. I love that El-P scored this film, Kathrine Narducci and Gino from Queens are in this, shoutout to them. Neal Brennan makes a cameo. But as a whole, I didn’t like it. 3/10

The King of Staten Island: Like most New Yorkers, I hate Staten Island. The title makes me want to vomit. It’s like saying The King of Ashes. Having said that, it’s an endearing, rated R family comedy (if such a thing exists) partly based on Pete Davidson’s life (he’s from Staten Island, his father was a firefighter who died on 9/11). It’s a very New York film and is very pro FDNY, who forever became heroes in NYC because of the sacrifices they made on 9/11 as well what they do on a daily basis. Lots of comedic cameos. I enjoyed seeing Keith Robinson- he’s a comic from Philly who was a mentor to Kevin Hart. I saw him once when I attended a live taping of Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn back in the day. Good to see him still alive considering he suffered a stroke a few years ago that left him partly paralyzed. Rich Vos, another Tough Crowd alum who I once saw in Penn Station. Lynne Koplitz who used to be a dead ringer for Cindy Crawford back in the day. Robert Smigel- famous comic writer, voice of Triumph The Insult Comic Dog. Action Bronson makes a brief funny cameo. Of course Bill Burr has a prominent role, and he pretty much looks like every stereotypical Irish fireman. Steve Buscemi, who actually was a fireman, is in this. It’s got a solid foundation, not the funniest movie Judd Apatow movie but I think that works to its benefit because it sometimes doesn’t seem like an Apatow movie (until his daughter pops up to remind you that it’s an Apatow film). If you hate Pete Davidson, you might hate this film. If you like Kid Cudi, you might like it. 7/10.

    Rain Man

really well acted film. i like how tom cruises character starts to sympathize with his brother as the film progresses. at first cruises character seems like he's selfish and self centered. but he changes as the movie goes along and they start to bond. this movie sort of reminded me of scent of a woman. there are certainly some similarities.

    From Dusk Til Dawn

this is a pretty good action/thriller. i think its predictable, but that's to be expected with these type of films. always been a huge tarantino fan and it was nice to see him act for a long period of time. he usually only acts for a short period of time in his own films, but in this film that isn't the case. george clooney is ruthless in this lol. i like how everyone had to bond together at the end. good stuff.

Used to love this movie. The aesthetic was awesome. I will never forget this movie because I thought I saw Cheech Marin 3 separate times throughout this movie, which turned out to be actors that just look like him; until he actually f---ing shows up at the end lmao. I’ll never forget that s--- lol

John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky

this is more of a documentary than a movie. it takes a look at the making of john lennon's solo album imagine. there's lots of cool footage of john and yoko. really enjoyed this. also, john said on radio that yoko was a big part in the creation of the song imagine. apparently they got the idea from a book yoko had. great stuff

Gave Star Wars 8 : The Last Jedi another chance after only seeing it once back in 2017.
Hated it when it was released and still hate it in 2020. I wonder who actually greenlit this bs script.

I am still not sure which one was worse this one or Episode 9.

    batman: the killing joke

this is an animated film. it's a short story involving batman, bat-girl, gordon and of course the joker. i found out some things i didn't know about some of the characters in the batman franchise by watching this. its rated R, and is probably a little more graphic than most animated films. just to give you guys a heads up lol.

    Zodiac

this is a true story that takes a look at the Zodiac killer during the late 60's and 70's. there isn't much action at all, so some people may get bored with it. but i found it to be interesting and i thought the ending scene was great.

    Steve Jobs

this movie is heavily dialogue driven and the scenes seem repetitive to me. but that's not a knock on the movie because i think that was an effective way of telling his story. i think the other interesting aspect of this movie besides Jobs story/career...was his relationship with his daughter. i especially enjoyed the ending--it's so heartwarming :)

Unhinged was alright, russell crowe is portly but pulls off an angry a------ quite well, probably because hes one in real life.

Borat 2 was pretty f---in bland just like the first one, but not unbearable like bruno. Yuck

    she's gotta have it (1986)

this was spike lee's first movie. it takes a look at a girl who dates and gets intimate with 3 very different guys. the girl seems to like each guy for different reasons, but can't settle on one. spike does a great job of adding a dose of humor into this film. although this was his very first project, you can really see spike's potential/talent shine through. great stuff.

    there will be blood (2007)

this movie takes the viewer into the life of an oil-man. daniel day lewis is the main actor and although he's brilliant in many ways (his ambition) he also has his faults (relationship with his son). i feel like paul dano's acting gets over-looked in this movie because of how great of a job daniel does with his role. most of the film i felt like i understood, but i'll be honest, the ending i didn't understand. i guess i'll have to watch it again.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (2004)

this movie takes a look at relationships. its one of jim carrey's serious roles. i think what makes this movie work so well is the chemistry between kate winslett and jim carrey. they gel really well in this. this movie is trippy. its confusing and will probably take at least a couple viewings. i liked it, didn't love it.
