Yeah, let's pretend WTT and 4:44 don't exist.

People clown Eminem and Nas's beat selection but that, ironically, is what makes them so great. They can still make great songs without having the best instrumentals to carry them. Same could be said for pre-AEOM Pac.

A lot of Hov's music is carried by production and hot features. He's still a highly skilled emcee with a long lasting music career and I'll always vouch for his legacy. But the dude can't make a decent hook on his own to save his life and he's very dependent on others to catch a buzz in music. 4:44 was a response to Lemonade. MCHG capitalized on Timberlake's comeback. WTT is blatantly riding off of Kanye's coattails. Empire State of Mind was his 1st number one song with Alicia Keys singing on half the song. Fake retired during 50's peak. Had Timbo ,Ye, Just Blaze and the Neptunes producing a lot of his hits in the early 2000's.

Em doesn't need half the resources as Hov to catch a buzz.

But, again, I still have Nas, Pac, and even Ghostface Killah above them both so this isn't a "stan" opinion at all.

Recovery was pretty much Em's version of BP3.

And Revival could have been Em's 4:44.

Jay has nice lyrics but to me he seems to sound the same all the time and it makes me feel bored when I listen to him.
