d--- was a great album lol

And much like 99% of artists he's trying to time his album drop to touring ability post pandemic since that's where artists make the most money.

nobody knows what is going on as Kendrick releases no info.

Whenever it is out my expectations are not that high for the album. GKMC & S80 both great. TPAB was ok. Same with d---.
Black Panther OST was good though.

Everyone knows whats going on dude. Why do you think Drake, J Cole, and other huge artists haven't dropped. Where's Adele at? her album was supposed to come out last fall according to a ton of sources and s---.

Most artists make miniscule money off streaming + sales. It's all about touring revenue and they are timing the new release to tours at the end of this year. This summer will be full of music if people are adequately vaccinated enough so that full scale tours can happen. Kendrick was scheduled to headline a ton of festivals last year, he was def gonna drop something if COVID never hit.

While this is a creative business, it's still a business.

The only artists dropping large albums right now are Taylor Swift (one of the only artists who can really make money off of sales + streaming), Eminem (someone who doesn't tour anymore anyways), Ariana Grande (tbh I don't know her motive here, maybe just thought she could capitalize on being one of the only major artists dropping albums), and up and comers looking to develop a bigger fan base before they tour at the end of the year (Jack Harlow, Lil Baby).

Look at the top songs on Billboard 100, many of them have been there for a year plus.

First I’ve heard of Kendrick being a recluse as well? I thought he travelled the world, visiting different cultures for years? I know he’s just had a child, so he’ll not only be busy raising them I assume, but also launched his new business venture pgLang which he’ll probably be dealing in the backend of & we’re in a pandemic so of course he’s going to be less publicly active.

I think you guys really hyperfocus on this too much. I don’t listen to illmatic or Supreme Clinentele on a weekly or monthly basis. Albums don’t have to be in your circulation constantly for them to be great. I also don’t think music being time stamps in the period of time they were released is necessarily a bad thing. It happens to all music eventually. No matter how “timeless” an album sounds, eventually, it’s going to sound dated. That’s okay.

It's not even possible to constantly listen to all albums u think are great. I mean except if u only listen to 2 artist lol

But if u check out new music, listen to loosies etc where would you find the time to listen to the 50, 100, 200, even more (?) albums you love ?
