Tone deaf might be my favorite off the album tbh, the smooth rapping on that one is perfection and the same don't give a f--- attitude that he showed earlier in his carreer is shown through out the track and not in a obnoxious-over-the-top way like let's say Offended. It seems tho like it falls between u either hate it or love it type tracks. Alfred's theme def has it bad moments, the stop and go s--- he does with flow and beat during "call me santa claus/ im at the mall/jacket off blablabla"
But all up to that part it is just magic, i love how it sounds like Em is just enjoying what he does on that track, kinda refreshing from his yelling/mad stuffs, the bowling scheme and everything after that is insane too.

Really appreciate the diversity on this album, fun songs, serious songs, chick songs, club songs, rap nerdy songs, songs that can take u by surprise at the same time can make u dry ur eyes etc
    A great b side

I still don't really like Black Magic or understand why it's the first track.

I don't hate the track I like the beat and Skylars hook I feel like Em and skylars collabs have been a lot better since side a leaving for heaven is top 10 f--- you guys but yeah with that said I could do without it for another opener on the same level as the ringer and premonition

Their collabs have been getting better no doubt. And it's obvious they will keep happening, cause Em loves working/performing with her.

Her s--- is also not selling, so Em is her main way of getting money.

Lack of threads/love for Conway the Machine is frustrating. La Maquina was fantastic. Massive improvement in rhyme schemes, so much versatility.
    GDMM will be a classic.

Side B is still great album after all this time

Side A has some weaknesses here and there

    both are solid 7-8/10 tho

I completely agree! I listened to Side B yesterday for the first time in months. Pretty dope album, but I always skip the first three tracks and start with Book of Rhymes. The first three just seem to go on forever and are pretty stale in comparison to the rest.

    Regarding encore vs mtbmb

its an argument if you prefer sonically pleasing music vs talent. Current em is simply very bad sonically. Pre 2004(u can make a case for 06) Em sounded rly pleasant. U just cant compare him to now

so ppl who likes encore more are ppl who enjoy pleasing sound

If u listen to one song off mtbm then one song off encore and keep going. Something about the way he rap now is very offputting from a music stand point

its almost like when he rap he doesnt have a beat playing. And they just layer the beat later. Something sonically not right

    but overall great album

It's no slander my brother, the first three are obviously also dope tracks, but just not that sonically pleasing if you just wanna vibe.

For me it's definitely Encore. That old sound is just pure gold and the MMLP-D12World Era is just the best musical sound in my opinion. That's why Encore will always be spot 3/4 for me, no matter what.

That's what I've been saying, and it's been a big problem with his music since like...Bad Meets Evil. But I will say that MTBMB improved a lot in that respect. It's not without its problems but it started to sound much more melodic/musical again.

This is why I enjoy No Regrets his flow & voice sounds better on it.

I wonder what is it that causes this problem?
Maybe the lack of drugs & alchohol means he is not relaxed in the studio.
Everything sounds robotic & forced at times.

I don't think drugs or alcohol have anything to do with it. Just send him to the doctor for some months, we wouldn't have to worry about the beats or the mixing. And he used to be pretty good on them beats.

I don't think it was directly a lack of drugs and alcohol. He's been on record saying he lost his confidence to rap post-addiction, but he was talking about pre-Relapse relearning to rap. He seemed completely confident on both Relapse and Recovery (tho they have other issues lol) but I think the fanbase being split on both those albums affected his confidence more than he let on. And when drugs are a huge part of your life for so long you can have a sort of identity crisis when you get sober and are learning to live life without substances. It's like what Walon (Bubs' sponsor) said in The Wire: Getting clean's the easy part. Then comes life.

Em went one direction with Relapse, then the other with Recovery, then hinged on nostalgia with BME and MMLP2, then released horrible side projects like Shady XV and Southpaw, and Revival was kind of a culmination of everything that had been bad about Em for the past decade lol. With Kamikaze it def felt like he was getting his confidence back and with MTBMB it seems like he finally cracked the code as to what middle-aged Em should be doing.
