All this talk about variants annoys me tbh. Flu strain changes yearly, that's why we have a flu shot every year. This is no different to that so we shouldn't be surprised by the variants. These big pharmaceuticals will already be changing the string of their vaccine to hit us again next year to cover the new variants. Let's just get the jab and try to enjoy life as much as we can.

First time hearing about the Delta variant. We've had the British one and now it's the Indian one kicking a----s over here.

Got my second dose this morning about 9 hours ago. My arm feels like someone drove a railroad spike into it and I’m fatigued and achy but nothing too terrible yet. Took off work tomorrow regardless

Yeah today was way worse than yesterday but manageable. Fell asleep on top of my comforter (normal for me during summer) and woke up at 3 AM with teeth-chattering chills. Put on more clothes and went back to sleep under the covers, woke up at 6AM sweat soaked. Beyond that it’s been mostly fatigue and aches today.

it will be viewed as common, but not less lethal. *if* it's seasonal, then the more people that don't get the vax will continue to go to the ICU and be put on vents -- far different than the common cold or seasonal flu.

It's not very different from the seasonal flu (Inflenza). A lot of the symptoms are similar. And many people each year die from the flu.

    https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/hea...ronavirus/coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu

Some even argue that there's been more flu related deaths in a given year than there was from Covid.

But it doesn't really matter since everybody has a different opinion about Covid. We're still learning about it and it often leads to endless arguments.

Someone wants to get a yearly shot? More power to them. Someone doesn't want to get vaccinated every year? That's perfectly fine too. To each their own.

i've got a problem with people saying that about the flu tbh. the flu kills, but afaik, it's usually a secondary symptom (ex: immunocompromised, elderly, etc.) and their body can't really take any sort of battle at the time...the flu is easiest to contract, so that's the straw that breaks.

with covid, you could be minimally unhealthy (ex: you smoke) and be at risk for a really rough death.

    Based on what study?

I think that is very debatable. It's very much a case by case thing. But we should probably leave it at that tbh. These discussions often turn into endless arguments especially when 2 people share very different opinions.

Got both Pfizer doses. Didn't feel s--- except minor soreness where I got injected for the first dose. Felt absolutely nothing in the second dose. Makes me wonder wtf. I thought I would get some kind of side effect like slight fever or headache.

1 shot Janssen vaccine recently approved in the UK as well.

Looks like we're only about a month or so away from hitting that magical 80% population vaccinated number.

19th July gonna really be like Independence Day to us!

Ours are all digital. We just download a certificate through our official NHS app. Takes about 2 weeks to generate though so gotta be planned in advance.

I just wish the world would create a digital passport as well. But that's another story.
