It could also be because they got into lockdown in time and chinese people follow government rules a lot better than eurpeans or americans. I'm not saying masks can't be a part of it but its an assumption that masks are the sole reason. And I think its not that effective based on the fact that most infections in Holland happened at home... where nobody wears one. So wearing a mask in an empty train or supermarked isn't gonna do s--- if people have huge parties at home spreading the virus lol

Jul 23, 2021 True but there’s protocols which extended their ability to effectively eradicate the virus from the population more than just mask-wearing. Testing was the main one to track the virus to break the transmission & then self-isolation, which is the opposite of what a lot of the failed response countries did. We were told in early Jan that family clusters were the main spread source at about 70~% - so the Asian countries revised their protocols & stopped in-house grouped isolations, the others didn't. It just got to a point in the Western countries that the virus was everywhere, we never had a full lockdown anywhere, just social lockdowns or the odd ‘local’ lockdown, but the virus was already flowing through the whole population & regions at all of these points for these protocols to be any form of eradication. This is the problem when your countries are constantly engulfed in culture wars, it stops people from rationally listening to science, everything has an ‘agenda’ lol.
Jul 23, 2021 Not just the West, but the entire world would have had to adopt exceptionally heavy-handed policies to eradicate the virus, which was never going to happen. In that scenario the cure really would have been worse than the disease. People are right to suspect an agenda. If not in the conspiracy sense, then certainly in the sense of the logical trajectory of so-called progress: If a dystopia is what you want, you should be celebrating, not whining. It won't happen overnight, but things definitely seem to be going in your direction!

Regardless of people’s opinions on marxism as a whole, central planning & controlled markets are much more efficient at tackling crises as these than more traditional laissez-faire capitalism.
