    They're not trans they're non binary they don't consider themselves of either gender so they are refered to as They/Them if that explanation helps

    It's not like I'm gonna ask every person I see ' hey you look like a man/woman but do you by any chance identify differently so I have to call u them?' When I see someone that looks like a man I'm gonna say he or him.

    However if I know beforehand someone wants to be called differently, I'm not gonna be a d-ck and don't do it. That's disrespectful

    Oh yeah I agree that if you don't know and you make a mistake its fine as long as you correct yourself! also the person making the correction shouldn't be an a------ cause this s--- is new for everyone.

    As for the Halsey thing I just think that if you're a magazine publication you should do research about this person beforehand

    again looking back it's not that big of a deal cause people haven't really had to do this before so it's an odd transition

    Yeah, with celebrities it may be easy, but with regular people it's impossible. And I can see people getting mad because of it like Halsey lol still think this new they shing is stupid.

    Yeah with people you don't know it'll be weird but a simple correction would do and hopefully people see it as a mistake instead of an attack and I don't think most people would see it that way

    Its not a "mistake" tho. You simply don't know if a man decided to be a woman / no gender or vice versa. If a person sees it as an attack or blames you, I don't see that as my problem/fault.

    If u know about it thats a completely different story ofc

    Yeah I think calling it a mistake or not is just semantics. my point is just people shouldn't get mad if they're corrected and the people who are doing the correcting shouldn't be mad if the other person doesn't know simple as that

    Also i just find it infuriating when extremists get angry and make this a bigger deal than it is and resort to hate crimes and s---

    and I know that's not what you're doing in the slightest it's just that some people on this site even if they're playing up a persona need to be taught that this s--- isn't that big a big deal so that might make me come across a bit snippy

    I don't want to seem like a saint either because I of course also have scepticism and questions about this stuff but I just chalk it up to being raised with specific ideas of how sex/gender works and I just need to learn more to get out of that line of thinking


    This entire conversation is super off topic but at least this thread turned into something productive as compared to coming in and going "haha he gay"
