@TimmyT did you catch up with any of the games from the Olympics?

I'm watching now Khachanov - Carreno Busta and soon I'll tune in to see the other semifinal Djokovic - Zverev

no, i haven't. but only because i don't know if i have a channel that is showing the Olympics. i'll have to look into it and find out because i really wanna watch

it looks like djokovic is gonna fall short of his quest to win all the slams in one year

@aleeex1972 start of the US Open today. many big names like serena, roger and nadal aren't playing. however, there's plenty of good players remaining.

murray lost today and after the match he expressed frustration over the lengthy bathroom break that tsispitas took. murray said he lost respect for tsitsipas

Tsitsipas did the same s--- against Zverev a week ago, he was away for 10 minutes went to the toilet with his phone and you can see his father texting him. He's a cheater

i watched tsitsipas play Mannarino last night and he took a semi lengthy (it wasn't too long) break and when he returned to the court the crowd booed him lol. i'm sure they'll look into this if it continues

anyway which matches have you watched so far?

tsitsipas, osaka AND barty all got eliminated before the second week :emoji_astonished:

osaka had a mini-breakdown and said she's not sure when she'll play her next tennis match. taking some time off is probably the right thing to do.

djokovic is going for the calendar slam. i think the last time someone won 4 majors in a calendar year was over 50 years ago. do you think djokovic will do it?

I mean yeah, looks like he will do it yet again he had a set and a break in the 2nd set in the semifinal at the olympics and lost even the bronze medal.

Fernandez that defeated Osaka just beat Kerber also.

    Crazy tournament so far.

I really hope Medvedev can take it down, he looks so freaking solid.

i watched the entire djokovic vs brooksby match last night. brooksby is a 20 year old American kid who put up a decent fight. roddick offered to help him with his serve. he said (tweeted) give him 4 days and he can fix brooksby's serve or something along those lines.

i agree djokovic will probably get it done. but as you mentioned, he fell a little short in the olympics, so who knows.

i hope Medvedev can surprise us all and win the whole tournament. it would be cool to see him capture his first major. i saw some of the match Medvedev played today and his serve was impressive--he's gonna need to keep serving like he did today if he's gonna take down Djokovic

yeah saw the entire game vs brooksby as well, but the kid just got tired and Djokovic released the beast in the next 3 sets.

Excited to see Auger Aliassime vs Alcaraz in 3 hours and watching Svitolina - Fernandez now.

Great Us Open so far, one of the best I've seen lately, even some WTA matches impressed me.

like you said, its been an awesome tournament. i just got done watching Medvedev vs. Auger-Aliassime. Medvedev won in straight sets. he somehow climbed out of a 5-3 hole in the second set. after that, it was all downhill for Auger-Aliassime.

on the women's side we have the two teenagers playing in the final, so that should be fun.

Yeah saw that as well, 2 set points for Auger-Aliassime in that 2nd set.

Now watching Nole, great game so far. Hoping for a 5th set here.

You know I'm a big big Federer fan, travelled 2.000 km to watch him play live but somehow I don't know why I want Djokovic to win this Us Open even if it means he will surpass Roger in grand slams and be the best of all time. Don't know why lol

that's another thing i love about tennis---its not predictable. who would have guessed that Medvedev would win in STRAIGHT sets....nobody---especially given how well Djokovic has played all year long.

but today was just Medvedev's day. his serve was excellent and he was moving very well on the court. that moment when Djokovic destroyed his racket was pretty funny ha.

this match was bittersweet for me. on one hand, i wanted to see Djokovic win because he would have made history and accomplished something that hasn't been done in over 50 years. on the other hand, i wanted Medvedev to win his first major.

also, the movie "King Richard" which is about Serena and Venus and their father is really good. hopefully you already saw it

@reservoirGod a few days after i saw King Richard in the theater...an article popped up on yahoo and it was about one of his kids explaining that he wasn't there for her. up until reading that article, i didn't even know he had another family. anyway, i think you'll like the film if you see it.

@aleeex1972 ash barty has a chance to win a major for her home country. that would be cool. she's favored but the girl she's playing, danielle collins, is performing really well right now.

i watched the entire match between nadal and berrettini. nadal won the first 2 sets comfortably but then berrettini really stepped up his game and won the 3rd set. the 4th set was a lot more competitive too but nadal pulled it out despite not playing his best tennis at this point of the match.

as great as nadal is, i think medvedev will beat him in the final. i just don't know if nadal will have enough left in the tank to win. i definitely won't be surprised if nadal wins, but if i had to guess, i'd say medvedev will win. he's the younger guy and he's obviously playing some of his best tennis right now.

these finals are on super early in the morning where i live--so i'm gonna try to avoid hearing who won and then watch the replay later

Watched Barty, I wanted Collins to win but she couldn't do anything, Barty was just to strong. Now I'm watching Kyrgios and Kokkinakis in the men's doubles final.

As for tomorrow's game, even though I'm a huge Federer fan, I want Nadal to win.

I feel you with the time zone, finals are okay where I live 10:30 am but I know the struggle trying to watch early rounds at AO and Us Open at 2-3 am lol
