May 21, 2022 The song with Rihanna came out after the album. He had a single for this one. He just picked a boring one.
May 21, 2022 Yea but a song with Rihanna is going to get a lot of streams first week is what I mean. Same how the drake and tems joint on the future album hit number one even tho it wasn't out beforehand. Big names like that will boost first week sales from people who just listen to that song
May 21, 2022 I feel like most people come in here saying "you're defending a bad album" only marsh would come in here saying "you're defending a flop album"
May 21, 2022 Flop and bad mean the same thing to Marsh, that Denzel Curry album is literally the worst album that exists cause it went double wood.
May 21, 2022 Not true. There are albums I can't stand that sold great and albums I like that flopped considering they are by BIG artists. I like albums that flopped pretty hard like Magic or 333.
May 21, 2022 I don't like Kendrick so most of his albums are bad to me. I just came here cause I didn't liked it and cause I saw he didn't sell well. I think Kendrick is capable of way better than this. And he also had more than enough time. But the numbers are out there, and that's a fact. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't
May 21, 2022 This. It would be much easier if we all agreed that to flop, an artist's record must meet 2 conditions: underperform comercially and be panned by fans/critics. Coz' this word somehow got out of control.
May 21, 2022 Bad & flop album don't have to be the same thing. An album can have bad reception / ratings but still do very well by numbers. A highly praised album can also have not many sales. Still, it depends what u compare it to (sales wise) and good or bad is subjective. Like, playboy carty did really good even if I don't like his music. Thats just personal
May 21, 2022 "I came here cause I didn't like it and saw it didn't sell well" I f---ing hate this thread lmao
May 21, 2022 This except f--- critics. Nobody cares about what some fattano has to say about an album lmao
May 21, 2022 The thing is though you want better as in radio play/hits not the quality of music itself
May 21, 2022 Considering that people value and base their opinion of off his I'd say a lot of people care about Fantano lol
May 21, 2022 I know that is what bugs me. Why the h--- would you base your opinion on that some nerd that records himself has to say. Influencers and "critics" (as in, people that really think their opinion matters more than others) are the worst thing ever in this world to me
May 21, 2022 That is why I used the slash. I meant fans that can criticise or praise in a constructive way. No casual ones who know only singles and whose justification for liking or hating sth is limited to "that's lit" or "that's garbage to me but listen to this if you want". Nothing wrong with this but such criticism carries no importance to me. So, I meant fans who are critics on a way. Like a lot of posters here, I guess.
May 21, 2022 Yep, agreed 100%. And it also depends on artist's goal. I like the album but I'm not in love with it and have issues with it as I said. But whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny that it achieved its goal. It's an album that's meant to be divisive and start a dialogue, which is exactly what it did. It feels purposeful in its structure and presentation. It's not very accessible (go back and look at all the first listen reactions) and not concerned with radio play. So for an album like that, almost 300k is pretty good imo.
May 21, 2022 "mid" and "flop" need to go, those words don't mean s--- anymore, other than "I don't personally like this and I'm trying to make it sound like it's objectively bad"
May 21, 2022 also sales don't mean s--- either, most independent artists or underground artists make s--- numbers, that doesn't mean they're bad at all, just like selling 10 million copies on the first week doesn't mean it's good
May 21, 2022 I posted before it flopped though. My first listen thoughts have to be here somewhere. I meant I came back cause I saw it flopped.
