May 21, 2022 Flops will always happen, to big artists and small ones too. And plenty of artists have been dropping mid, so I don't see why these words should go. I feel like they're gonna be used a lot this year if things stay like this. You guys don't like the fact that it flopped? Ok, but it still did.
May 22, 2022 bro how does a small artist flop??? they literally have no expectations??? also to your other reply, yea Kendrick doing 280K first week makes sense to me and I expected that. It's 2022. Physical sales are non existent (especially when they don't even release in this instance), bundles that boosted sales previously were taken away, and streaming is a hellhole for album sales.
May 22, 2022 This album is going to win a lot of awards. Like d--- winning a Pulitzer. Is going to be considered a great album despite the first week sales.
May 22, 2022 dude the thing is, u say u know the difference between sales and quality, but u still NEED to bring the d--- numbers in every single album thread. U are obssessed with "flops" and "hits". It doesnt make sense why would u care so much about it and im sorry but it gets annoying because u derail the threads with it.
May 22, 2022 People online acting like Kendrick sold 50k or something. That obviously would be considered a flop sales wise in a lot of ways, it's Kendrick Lamar. But this man did around 286k lmao People are stupid
May 22, 2022 I keep coming back to this album every day and I love it more and more. Time will tell but the I think the replayability is gonna be up there with d---. for me
May 22, 2022 When I say small, I don't mean a nobody. You don't need physicals like that these days, some albums don't even have them, like CLB.
May 22, 2022 I didn't. I came here and someone had posted his sales saying they were disappointing so I commented. My favorite album last year was Magic, 0 hits and it's probably Nas's biggest flop.
May 22, 2022 Despite the sounding i feel like this album is less depressive than d---. Maybe this is going to impact in the replay value to me.
May 22, 2022 So does your definition of a flop take into account sales and only sales? That's what I've been asking
May 22, 2022 Kendrick didn't flop the f---. Good sales and great reception. Some people have been complaining about his music since TPAB. They didn't like his new stuff, as well. No surprise. Other than that, most people at least like It. Don't compare it to Revival or Donda 2 situation.
May 22, 2022 Bro, yes you f---ing do need physicals if your target audience is older people. That's why Adele sold a s--- ton. I mean if we're talking strictly about streaming, you're using Drake as the baseline rather than the anomaly. Drake ascended hip hop and is literally the most popular artist in the world outside of maybe...Bad Bunny in latin america? You compare ANYONE to Drake outside of Adele and Taylor Swift and everybody is flopping by your definition. You compare Kendrick to his contemporaries, The Weeknd, Future, Eminem, and he is either on par or straight up outsold them.
