May 25, 2022 That's not how release dates work bro. It's US time, usually 12:00 A.M. Eastern Time regardless of what time it is where you live.
May 25, 2022 The first two verses of No Apologies are from 2001/2002. The third verse is from 2006. I dont know if there was an original third verse from 2002 but would be cool
May 25, 2022 All 3 verses sound like they were recorded in 2001/2002 to me. Listen to Fight Music or Soldier and then No Apologies and tell me you still think it's a 2006 song. Also if you think the first two verses were recorded in 02 then it should be obvious the 3rd one was too since the voice is the same. My guess is the song didn't make the album at least partly because the 3rd verse didn't meet his high standards for a studio album at the time (while making an exception for Drips because he wanted to promote Obie). By 2006 his voice and style had changed dramatically. Or do you guys think he was still able to use his prime voice at will, but for some reason chose not to outside the recording of No Apologies?
May 25, 2022 No, they meant that the first two verses started off as freestyles in the early 2000s, then the third verse was added in 2006 when the song was recorded.
May 25, 2022 I don't think the last verse has his prime voice. It's close but it still sounds a little bit drugged out. The writing is also in a different stratosphere the first two verses compared to the last verse. I don't think you can argue at the last verse was not recorded in 2006.
May 25, 2022 You've got it backwards bro. He had a version of the song done in 2002 and that's why he was able to use those verses for freestyles. He didn't take to freestyles and turn them into a song lol.
May 25, 2022 I always had the impression that they started off as freestyles, then it was expanded into a full song years later.
May 25, 2022 Well if that's drugged out Eminem imitating his older style, then he totally fooled my ear. I agree the writing is substandard next to the other two. But I wonder if that's because he just had writer's block with that particular song, as if No Apologies was never meant to be more than 2 verses. I also wonder if that "Lights Camera Action" verse, which he rapped in the same freestyle as No Apologies in a promotional freestyle for TES, was originally written for TES but scrapped for similar reasons. It's a longshot but if it was then maybe the studio version from the Kiss skit will be on the extended edition. Not getting my hopes up ofc lol.
May 25, 2022 Huh, didnt think about that. I always had the impression of him grabbing those two verses from different freestyles for inspiration to craft a song in that time period and wrote the third one to see if he still has it and if his skill's mastered.
May 25, 2022 Truth Hurts once said in an interview that she recorded a hook for TES that was an spin on Rockwells Somebody's Watching Me. Would like to hear that. Might be the rumored Everybody’s Looking at Me aka Kiss Skit song? The lights cameras verse.. found it: https://www.mtv.com/news/1453165/the-docs-diagnosis-eminem-still-crazy/ R&B singer Truth Hurts, Dr. Dre's latest protégé, said she recorded vocals for The Eminem Show several months ago in Detroit. "It came out hot," she said. "I think it is kind of a spinoff of Rockwell's 'Somebody's Watching Me,' 'cause I remember singing those melodies. We did that a while ago, before he started getting into the record full-force, so I don't know what songs he's going to use. Hopefully that's one of them." Click to expand...
May 25, 2022 I expect you are correct on No Apologies, but Bad Influence sounds a lot like a song he made using 2 freestyles.
