"Kinderfeld" is about Marilyn Manson's Grandfather Jack Warner, who used to go into his basement and masturbate, then cover this behavior by saying he was playing with a train set. As Manson explains in his book The Long Hard Road Out of h---, his grandparents had strict punitive rules that they would reinforce with making him kneel on broomsticks ("I had to kneel on broomsticks just to make it go away"). He broke the rules often because the pain made him forget what he saw. Other forms of punishment are referenced in the lyrics "three holes upon the leather belt, the gut is swollen the edge the edge is showing, there is no one her to save ourselves." The song also refers to how parents and religion tell us what to think and feel ("This is what you should fear").

As a child, Manson always wanted to witness the forbidden. This led to his spying on his grandfather, along with spying on naked women. Around that same time in his childhood, he began having vivid dreams filled with distorted images of the things he saw. These images still haunt him in his sleep and have led to the creation of many of his songs.

Relistening to that album or pretty much any of his albums with more knowledge on the lyrics back story of the album is always a trip lol. I feel like a lot of artist seem to excel when on drugs and depressed but that was pretty much the downfall for his music because he was a lot better sober and focused like his first 4 albums or at the very least not as f----- up on drugs.

Just finished Holy Wood and I'd probably rank the trilogy like this:
1. Antichrist Superstar :f---ing Incredible. The Trent Reznor production might be a factor in why I love it so much but still this album is great
2. Holy Wood : More similar to ACSS than MA and that's probably why I like it better. Some weak spots but some joints on this are f---ing stellar, rivaling the best on ACSS
3. Mechanical Animals: Not bad at all but it does feel a bit less raw than ACSS or Holy Wood. The music feels more artificial, which is the point. But still some great joints on here like Rock Is Dead or IDLTD.
