Aug 12, 2022 After a few listens, it’s a pretty entertaining song but really lacks teeth as a battle track. Basically a watered down remix of the same shots that have been taken at Em for years… I thought Game would have at least brought up some dirt from the time when he was inside the Shady/Aftermath camp to make the insults more personal for Eminem and the content a little more interesting for everyone else. (For example, we still haven’t heard the whole story behind druggie Eminem throwing a temper tantrum over a joke and completely f---ing over Stat Quo’s career…) Regardless, nothing will come of this. Game whoring for attention at the end of the song (“pick that pen up, don’t be lazy”) says it all about the power dynamics at play. And lest we forget that this dude continues to be a serial liar ("you are not, top five, in mine, B.I.G or 'Pac eyes"):
Aug 12, 2022 This is Game, not Em. It doesn't fit him as much as Em. And I didn't say it sounds bad, it's just too long for Game to pull off this style and not end up forgettable. And I like Game's stuff as well, although I rarely played him.
Aug 12, 2022 Mgk had a better diss track because people actually liked listening to it and it was catchy for what is was. The game just made himself look like the guy from Mariah Carey’s obsessed video.
Aug 12, 2022 This completely misses the point of the diss, which was to say "I can do what you do almost as well, just as you can do what we black people do almost as well; but the fact is you'll never get the props you feel you deserve because at the end of the day you're a white boy in a culture created and dominated by black people." Modern-day Eminem has no rejoinder to this beyond conceding that he's a guest in hip hop. Game spotted this weakness and traded on it.
Aug 12, 2022 ^that messaging honestly has Kanye written all over it, I don’t think Game is that clever, calculated or proud of his race
Aug 12, 2022 Yet he was frequently clever in this song. Put it down to racial pride or a sense of victimization and entitlement or both, American blacks are Woke, and tend to see the Lebenswelt through a racial lens. Of f---ing course Game could see what happened between Eminem and Jamar. It's white people who are (willfully) oblivious to race.
