    In similar fashion to switching from Chrome to Brave and Google to Brave Search, I just migrated to use Proton Mail instead of Gmail.

    Why? f--- Google and them siphoning & selling my data. Proton is built around security and privacy.

    they also have a Drive (similar to Google Drive), VPN, & Calendar (similar to Google Calendar).

    It’s free to use, with the option to pay ~$3/mo for increased inbox storage (which is what I use).

    I have been using it for years but can’t get myself to switch over totally from google

    I recently started using it (free). I like it so far for what it is. I agree, f--- Google.

    I prefer mailbox.org, it has a nicer extension.

    For whatever reason, “.org” is a hard no for me. There’s an unspoken stigma about using anything other than @gmail or @yahoo. And breaking free from a “.com” is a big wtf

    “@protonmail.com” can be switched to “@pm.me”, but there’s no way.

    Idk man when giving your email irl saying @onlinemailbox.org makes me feel far less crazy than saying @protonmail.com. I also liked it was German but that's just the historical me.

    Worst part is changing all your old accounts to use your new email, if you don't use a password manager your f----- but I assume you do because your the head admin.

    Mailbox.org still sounds like an email and is easy for people to get irl instantly, protonmail sounds like you don't trust the government and everyone asks what was that again. I'm also almost certain there was somthing out on how protons end to end inscription is flawed like 2 years back.

    Fun fact you can make a YouTube account without a gmail :))

    second part: i wasn't referring to not being able to create a gmail account w/ gmail; was referring to youtube being yet another google product that will gather your data and sell to the highest bidder...they can easily put 2 and 2 together and know that your gmail email is the same as your [email protected] account you used to sign up to youtube.

    I'll look for a source I just rememeber reading it when I was leaving Google.

    If you don't want them cross referencing stuff you use alias, mailbox gives you 4 and apple hide my email is pretty fun I'm sure proton give you a few free alts. You should also get some throw away sim for some mandatory 2fa.
