Jun 17, 2024 Honestly pretty excited to see where that Lorde album ends up amongst the albums of the last 3 weeks, I honestly expected mostly favorable reviews but it was actually pretty 50/50 on “meh” and “great”. I don’t think I saw a review below a 5 though
Jun 18, 2024 Lorde- Melodrama scored a 6.8 and is now in 3rd place. Updated the main page, and the album page @Michael Myers great pick, lots of high reviews but some of the mid reviews brought it down. I thought it would be higher but there were 3 5s that leveled the rating out! @AOTWClub
Jun 18, 2024 Three 6 Mafia- When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 Favorite Tracks: 44 Killers, Sippin on some Syrup, I'm So HI, Tongue Ring, Who Run It Least Favorite Tracks: Weak a--- b----(I hate the annoying sound in the background) This album was a real throwback for me, I'd heard it many times, my friend group growing up became friends with a guy who'd moved to Canada from Texas. So he got us all Into the southern rap scene, so I'm very familiar with the three 6 Mafia and most of their albums. I love Three 6 Mafia, but realized while listening to this, I love listening to the songs I like when they come on in my playlist. I don't necessarily like a whole album by them. Juicy J is great, I love his solo work and I'm kind of tempted to pick his "stay trippy" album as my album. Anyways quick summary, the production on their albums are always top notch, I just find them not really THAT interesting lyrically to keep my attention for a whole album. I added a buncha songs off this to my big playlist, but can't say as a whole I love the entire album. My rating I feel is kinda low cause I do love a buncha songs on this but they're just not what I want to listen to for a whole album if that makes sense. Score: 6.5/10 @AOTWClub @Omar Little

Jun 18, 2024 Three 6 Mafia - When the Smoke Clears OVERALL RATING: 8/10 I’ve always been a fan of this Memphis sound. It’s a classic, timeless sound that almost never gets old. I’ve heard plenty of Three 6 Mafia songs but never listened to a full album. For the most part, this album was fun to listen to and nearly every song was a b-----r. As I was making my way through this album I honestly thought it would be a 9/10. However, as the album went on it started to wear on me. While I like the repetitive nature of a lot of the songs, sometimes it got too repetitive (Act Like You Know Me). That coupled with the fact that this thing is a whopping 22 tracks starts to get tiring after a while. I also didn’t care for the skits. Despite all that negativity, I simply like this sound too much to give it a bad score. I guess I have a soft spot for it. Perhaps if the skits and some songs in the latter half were removed, this album could be a 9/10 for me. Unfortunately that’s not the case and like I said the album started annoying me towards the end so I gotta go with 8/10 instead. @AOTWClub
Jun 20, 2024 at 2:58 AM Three 6 Mafia- When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 Favorite Tracks: Jus Like Us, Touched it wit, Who Run It, Put Ya Signs Least Favorite: Where The Cheese At I hadn’t really given this album a full listen before, maybe just skimmed through it once, so hearing it in its entirety was nice. It was an enjoyable experience, though there are quite a few filler and average tracks, but that is something I noticed on all of their albums. A lot of songs on this album (And Many Three 6 Mafia songs in general) rely on a simple loop. It’s often catchy and makes their sound unique but can also feel pretty basic and repetitive at times. Lyrics are straight forward so nothing really to dissect. Three 6 Mafia have a ton of good tracks and bangers for days but they are usually best enjoyed individually. Happy to have had a chance to listen to this album cause now I get to add a bunch more to my library. Top 3 albums from them would be Chapter 2: World Domination, Most Known Unknown and Stay Trippy from Juicy J. I wouldn’t rank this one quite as high, but considering some of the standout tracks 7.5/10 @AOTWClub
Jun 20, 2024 at 4:28 PM Three 6 Mafia- When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 favorite songs: touched it wit, who run it, tongue ring, So HI Least favorite: take a bump, where da cheese at all in all I enjoyed this album but in my opinion the project would be better if they cut some of the filler songs, it gets kind of repetetive and doesn’t do much for me at times, with that said, the highs are really high and they remind me of why the memphis sound goes so insanely hard when done well. Saved some of my favs on a couple of playlists I have and I’m looking forward to bumping along. I love the production, I love how dynamic it is, the chemistry they have elevate these songs to a whole new level and definitely explains why they’re so highly regarded. My only real complaint is caused by the feeling of repetetiveness, I feel like there’s an insane 10 track album hiding under the filler, but to each his own - music is subjective. 6.5/10

Jun 21, 2024 at 3:03 PM @AOTWClub This is my first Three 6 album and I'm a bit mixed on it even though I mostly enjoyed it, I will say most of my criticisms aren't of just this album but this era of era in this lane in general. I enjoy southern rap but a lot of full projects can feel tiring when they're over 20 tracks with a similar vibe throughout, everyone did their thing tho, especially Project Pat and Gangsta Boo. Favorite Tracks: 44 Killers, Sipping On Some Syrup, I'm So Hi, M.E.M.P.H.I.S., Just Anotha Crazy Clikc (the ICP parts s--- but its chaeming lmao), and Who Run it. I also think the What's Next skit is a cool way to announce release windows for albums. Verdict: it's a very fun album but the length and repetitive subject matter and flows can make it a bit tiring. Rating: 6.5/10

Three 6 Mafia has been in my life for as long as I can remember, growing up in Tennessee, so this sound has always been special to me. Three 6 were truly ahead of their time and it shows with this highly influential project. b-----r after b-----r, really only 1 super weak track to me across the 19 songs on here, that track being Barrin You b------s. Sippin On Some Syrup, Tongue Ring, Who Run It, all legendary tracks that happen to be on this album. Like most of y’all have been saying, this album does suffer from having too many tracks, and if the weaker ones were left out, this project would probably be a 9 or even a 10 for me. It was very rare that I wasn’t nodding my head while listening to this album. Fun music all around that will always get you amped up. Legendary s---, hoping I can see Three 6 and Yela in concert together in Huntsville in a couple months.
