Jul 7, 2024 At least it’s him rather than three minutes of other rappers who nobody gives a s--- about
Jul 7, 2024 LOL in what f---ing world is Won’t Back Down better than Tobey? That song is awfullllllllllllllll and people keep saying it’s abandoned the theme when we haven’t even heard the album yet. We don’t even actually know the full theme yet. We literally know nothing about the album aside from 2 songs that are out. Both songs mention Shady, btw.
Jul 7, 2024 For one, i'd rather hear Em will some relevant rappers that are giving it their all, than trying to desperately drag life out of Dre, 50 Cent, etc. For two, i'd rather having quality over quantity. One verse of him not doing stupid puns, not going super sonic, and flowing like f--- over 3 verses of him screaming punchlines you'd hear in Christmas crackers whilst Pink awkwardly sings, wondering why she was invited.
Jul 7, 2024 So you think he’s going to drop the video for Tobey on Monday to release the album on Friday with a new video and single to completely wipe Tobey away from people’s attention
Jul 7, 2024 I like Tobey in general it’s just not catchy enough to be a single. It’s a song I’d prefer to hear within the context of the album. As a single, I don’t see how this is supposed to help sell the album. Em’s practically a feature on his own song with two rappers whose verses didn’t really stand out to begin with. It just doesn’t make sense.
Jul 7, 2024 Def! He is a different force, hopefully he will get some more appreciation by Detroiters now, i think he would value that
Jul 7, 2024 MFers got less than a week till 20 new eminem tracks and are still engaging in repetetive and braindead tobey discourse smh
Jul 7, 2024 Completely different songs, but Em shouting dad jokes on a track with a pop singer on the hook is NOT better than Tobey People are so mad at the choice for a second single they’re coming out with some wild takes lol
Jul 7, 2024 No. I mean that he lets Tobey have a couple of weeks. Releases the album. There's the initial hype, he does good first week numbers, as usual. Then a week in to it being out, so 3 after Tobey, he picks a strong song from the album to put out that not only keeps people talking about him past the first week, but also catches the ear of anyone that hasn't given his album a listen when they hear it on the radio or see the video on YouTube. It won't be a song like this, but LTWYL wasn't put out as a single until Recovery was officially out. And it clearly helped sales and relevance. If he is hiding another nostalgia song, or a feature with Billie Eilish/Weeknd, etc then it would be the smart time to release it.
Jul 7, 2024 Majority of the hate because they wanted "more Em". Meanwhile, the beat, rhymes, flows, and vocals are fire. A true fan of Hip Hop can't objectively hate on Tobey.
Jul 7, 2024 In terms of how Tobey fits into the album, I’d imagine the previous track would reference people saying Em doesn’t do enough for Detroit & their rappers or whatever and then you get Tobey where he lets them shine Then towards the end of the Em verse where he says he’s the GOAT, I’d imagine that leads into the next song like Greatest The ‘Shady gone’ lyric is probably a double entendre for being crazy & from a track earlier where I assume Shady gets killed. Maybe not as cohesive and thematic as some of you all want, but it could loosely work Not ideal but let’s just wait for the album before making massive judgements
Jul 7, 2024 I didn't say it was mate. I was talking about him saving strong singles for the album already being out. Probably wasn't clear. On another note, Recovery's singles were on a weird schedule outside of LTWYL. Not Afraid came out 2 months before the album, and they promoted nothing but that. Then they did No Love months and months later. Then they did Space Bound a full on year after.
