but what's the difference between them? will he be less raw? :khaled: cause he's already softer than he used to be.

Not sure, but at least if that music sucks we can view it as Abel Tesfaye and not The Weeknd.

I do like these singles, but man these music videos are LACKING. The standard of quality he’s putting out here just isn’t matching what he’s put out in the past. First that generic a--- Dancing In The Flames music video that was clearly only done to promote the iPhone 16 and now we have this lazy video for São Paulo that looks like it was shot last minute on an iPhone. All that video has going for it is the weird stomach. I know it’s about the rebirth s--- but come on, that video could’ve been more creative than Anitta walking around and grinding on a car. The talking stomach was a bit creative though. The Timeless video wasn’t exactly original either.

It’s just a shame because most of The Weeknd’s music videos before this were great.

interesting hearing you say that because earlier on in the thread, you sounded like you liked the video for Timeless. but for what it's worth, I agree. I didn't like the music video for Dancing with the flames, I didn't like the video for Timeless, and I kinda hate the video for Sao Paulo. out of the 3 songs I think I like Timeless best but I don't like any of them all that much. Abel's still my most favorite artist ever whether he goes by his own name or The Weeknd. I had Sao Paulo on repeat all day but I barely was "listening" to it.

My mind changed on the Timeless video a bit. I do think it fits the song and looks cool, but is overall unoriginal and uninspired especially for The Weeknd’s standards. It’s basically your typical rap video. In isolation I like it for what it is, but in the context of all the music videos for this album being so lame it makes me look at the Timeless video in a worse way.
He did this horror music video thing way better with Too Late. At least that video had some production value and a story to it. The only effort that went into the São Paulo video was the weird stomach. Other than that it feels last minute and lazy. It’s clearly shot on a phone that isn’t good at filming at night because the video does not look great. It’s just Anitta walking and lying around. The biggest popstar in the world should not be having videos this low quality.
Same to all of that. São Paulo is mostly only good for a party setting but that’s about it. I guess it’s kind of a different sound for him though. Based on the snippets we have heard at concerts and in album trailers, the rest of the album doesn’t really seem to sound like Timeless or São Paulo so I wonder how/if they will fit in the album.

I'm not particularly fond of the Too late video either, but I agree that it has much more production value & artistic merit to it too. you're right that it was obviously shot on a phone, and that point is doubly weird because there was this huge promo of how Dancing in the flames was shot entirely on the latest iPhone and a month later another music video is released from this album, also shot on a phone that's totally contrary to what Dancing in the flames video was promoting.

Like, the song is named after a city in Brazil yet they decided to make a low budget film in New York City instead?

Also, f--- whatever story/allegory/metaphor they're trying to tell with the singing pregnant stomach. the actual video is so disturbing and creepy that it distracts me from whatever message they're trying to convey and makes me not care. And Abel has done plenty of Halloween themed videos before. I'd say Too late is one of them, then of course Party monster, and arguably many more.
yeah he needs to drop the album release date already. whatever sound he goes for, I'll be there to hear him out for it. Release it in 2024 already! HURRY UP TOMORROW!

I see you changed your avatar!

November would be fine, but my guess is December now. he never released an album in December I don't think. Except Echos if we're gonna count that

the title of the movie wasn't known before, right? so either they're naming the movie after the album, or the album is named after the movie. some Get rich or die tryin s---
