Nov 7, 2024 at 10:32 AM I wouldn't give it higher than a 7 either but yeah lmao @ that terrible noise being tied. Then again, its good that we got a group with different opinions and taste. Would be so boring otherwise!
Nov 7, 2024 at 1:32 PM Not sure if enough people will participate but picking a new album that dropped in that week in general is a good idea Spoiler if we skip carty But of course what we do now is cool as well with people having so many different tastes itt
Nov 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM Yeah true its nice with 'big' releases but some weeks albums drop nobody gives a f--- about
Nov 7, 2024 at 4:31 PM Pretty sure next week will just be the start of the schedule again The person whose week it's supposed to be hasn't contributed in forever
Nov 7, 2024 at 5:14 PM Luda has some standouts songs but none of his albums stand out as a whole. That album is one his his weakest ones. I would've went with Release Therapy, it's the closest he has to a good album. Though some might prefer his earlier work.
Nov 7, 2024 at 5:21 PM I apologize in advance if the Bronson album ends up with a mid score. I've never been a fan of The Alchemist production, but it could end being a 10/10. Only one way to find out.
Nov 7, 2024 at 6:04 PM If you usually dislike Alchemist’s sound then I’d be very surprised if you liked this album - but who knows man. I personally find the contrast between alchemist’s grimey beats against Bronson’s clown approach to his verses very refreshing and welcome. It’s what makes me appreciate this mixtape. Mediocre and negative ratings are fun as f---, they help you understand what others enjoy in their music and what they find so a--- about yours lol.
Nov 8, 2024 at 4:35 PM Action Bronson & The Alchemist - Rare Chandeliers This is now the 6th time that AOTW Club has made me listen to an artist who i planned to listen to years ago, but never did. Since this mixtape is a collaboration between a rapper and producer, it’s important for me to acknowledge that I’m much more well versed in The Alchemist’s work than Bronson’s To say that Alc is a producion legend by this point is undeniable. He produced one of my favorite Wayne songs ever (You Ain’t Got Nothing); made Alfredo with Freddie which is spectacular and also made the beat to Meet the Grahams which is worth mentioning. And to no surprise, Alc is great on this record. Every single beat hits HARD, and (this might sound weird) they sound very “chandelier” -esque. Now there’s Action Bronson. Aside from his features on some A$AP Rocky and Chance the Rapper projects, the only Bronson song i was familiar with was “Terry” (which is produced by Alc coincidentally). So basically having this album as an introduction, i was pleasantly surprised but not blown away. He has a pretty good voice, and his bars are pretty solid (i noticed that he references Jean Claude Van Damme a lot) but i wasn’t blown away or anything. I do think that he fits very well with Alc’s production tho, and his rapping is far from being a negative on this project. Overall, I really enjoyed Rare Chandeliers. As a fan of Alchemist’s work i appreciated the production a lot, and I’m glad I finally checked out a Bronson project. I remember downloading Blue Chips 1 & 2 years ago, but i never listened to them. I did enjoy this album quite a bit so they’re definitely on my radar. Big thanks to @stepdad enjoyer for the pick and yeah. FAVORITES: Rare Chandeliers, The Symbol, Gateway to Wizardry Rating: 7/10 @AOTWClub
Nov 8, 2024 at 5:42 PM Insanely good choice of favorite tracks. This is the only bronson album I’ve listened to too , I agree with you completely, this album is like an entertaining chapter when you’re going through Alchemist’s discography. Feels like one of its main purposes is showcasing the very cool meshing of two very eclectic styles. With that said, Rare Chandeliers didn’t really make me check out more music from Bronson. I’m good with knowing him for his youtube/tv s--- and this mixtape alone.
Nov 9, 2024 at 5:40 PM Action Bronson- Rare Chandeliers I've never really payed much attention to Action Bronson, so was looking forward to giving this one a listen. I only gave it one full play through since it was on YouTube, the standout to to me on this mixtape isn't Action Bronson it's The Alchemists production The beat switch on gateway to wizardry was a high point of the album. Basically every song had a beat i enjoyed. Bronson does have some great bars throughout the album, and some of them are funny as h---. I did really enjoy this album much more than I thought I would, gonna check out some more of his work. My review feels a bit less detailed than I like but only one listen through makes it a bit hard as I was driving while listening. My fav tracks were Sylvester Lundgren Gateway to Wizardry Blood of the goat Score: 6.5 @AOTWClub
