Dec 31, 2024 at 10:45 AM I agree I like when it's an album I'd never have listened to on my own, so @jankland just do it lol
Dec 31, 2024 at 4:22 PM @Justin Trudeau @AOTWClub First off want to say interesting pick @Michael Myers! being that I'm a movie freak I didn't even think about opening the avenue to this kind of music so I'm happy you went outside of the box a little I haven't watched Smile 2 yet so idk if I'm missing any context outside of the basic plot of the movie and the main character being a pop artist. I don't have too much to say than it's pretty inoffensive retail store sounding pop knock off of Lady Gaga and a couple other people, it falls into some pitfalls that I don't like about pop vocal production sometimes but I didn't hate this at all. A couple melodies were kinda try hard but Naomi Scott has a decent voice and I hear good things about her performance in the movie. The most glowing praise I can give this is I wouldn't be mad if a couple of these songs were in the playlist at my restaurant lol Favorite Songs: Grieve You, Blood On White Satin RATING 5.5/10
Dec 31, 2024 at 5:12 PM Skye Riley & Naomi Scott - Smile 2: The Skye Riley EP Best tracks: Grieved You, Blood On White Satin Worst track: New Brain RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 5/10 This EP is giving Lady Gaga, Tate McRae, Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams, and even The Weeknd. I assume the derivative nature of this project is intentional, but the problem is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s pretty obvious why Grieved You and Blood On White Satin were released as singles because they are by far the best songs. New Brain sucks man, straight up. It’s the most generic “I’m going insane” song I’ve ever heard. It sounds like it was specifically designed for edgy 14 year olds, these lyrics make me cringe. It sounds like they had Chat GPT write a song about going insane, it’s very surface level. This song massively weighs the EP down and with only 5 songs (the 6th is just a piano version of a previous song) that really affects the score. The way Just My Name is mixed kind of reminds me of The Weeknd from After Hours. I kinda like it, but it also just kinda makes me wish Lily Rose Depp made her own individual EP with the help of The Weeknd during The Idol show because I feel like that would’ve been a much better executed version of the EP we have here right now. I like the singing on this album though and there is some definite catchiness here. I did add some of these songs to one of my playlists. Death Of Me is okay, kinda feels like another Lady Gaga song. If this EP was just Grieved You, Blood On My Satin, and Death Of Me I’d probably give it a 7/10 but unfortunately that’s not the case. Not a terrible project though! @AOTWClub
Dec 31, 2024 at 5:41 PM I actually love New Brain @Ripper Roo ! But thats because I love when she performs it in the movie and the lyrics really capture the state she's in at that point in the movie. But I also like Grieved You and Blood On White Satin the most. So yeah had I not seen Smile 2 recently I probably wouldn't even like this EP that much. It's truly is the combination with appreciating the movie. As an EP I would probably give it a 7/10 or so. And yeah @jankland Naomi is amazing in the movie. Such a great performance!
Dec 31, 2024 at 5:44 PM Ah, so it seems New Brain heavily relies on the context of the movie. Makes sense, I haven’t seen it yet
Dec 31, 2024 at 5:55 PM There's a scene where she records the video for it, same as Blood on White Satin a live performance. Oh u gonna love it I think!

Jan 2, 2025 at 12:58 AM Smile 2: The Skye Riley EP - Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) REVIEW Score: 7.0 Review: Cool EP with the original songs written for Smile 2. I mean, there’s not much to say since it’s a quick, 6 (technically 5) song EP that’s under 20 minutes. I dig the production and the singing from Naomi Scott. I think I appreciate this EP more due to the fact I’ve seen (and loved) Smile 2. That’s really it, thanks for the quick pick @Michael Myers ! @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Spoiler: Rankings Discovery - 9.0 GNX - 9.0 Low - 9.0 Sling - 9.0 Cilvia Demo - 8.5 House Of Balloons - 8.5 Melodrama - 8.5 Orpheus vs. the Sirens - 8.5 Rare Chandeliers - 8.5 Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 8.5 The Death Of Slim Shady - 8.5 Laugh Now, Cry Later - 8.0 Miles - 8.0 When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 - 8.0 All My Heroes Are Cornballs - 7.5 Americana - 7.5 Indestructible - 7.5 Mannibalector - 7.5 Big Conspiracy - 7.0 Smile 2: The Skye Riley EP - 7.0 Soul Burger - 7.0 Why Would I Watch? - 7.0 Atonement - 6.5 Kings Of Crunk - 6.5 MID AIR - 6.5 POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR - 6.5 Theater Of The Mind - 6.5 EAT ME, DRINK ME - 6.0 LIFTED or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground - 5.5 When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That s--- Gold - 5.0
