Like, he didn't overtly do it throughout, just a pre-chorus mention... but I reckon he was doing that to try avoid defamation, by plausibly making it about 'his stepdad' / 'himself'... but, the 04/05 jibes at the time absolutely everywhere... I reckon even with it lightly being implied about MJ, Paul was like 'AW h--- NAH'. Like wasn't MJ's estate sue happy too? They coulda like, bankrupted Shady Records.

Maybe he wasn't happy with what it was entirely but, still had some tracks; bc Public Enemy #1 n No Apologies (even though parts written years earlier, I believe he only finished it then) are fkn fire. And pure solo... So then yeah maybe did that, then tried to start-up again with KM n also scrapped that.

Jan 14, 2025 I reckon I'm Sorry was made before Love the Way You Lie, like, his first or an attempt at it... You can hear him tryna figure it out, tryna write what he ends up writing. P interesting, same with 'Love Drunk' potentially a pre-Same Song & Dance, similar concept, tryna work it... It's like hearing his workings; just kinda assume he writes multies all day but then the song he puts together is the song. But, clearly like tries out concepts multiple times until he gets 'em right... Bc the verses on I'm Sorry are subpar to LTWYL. There's not the s--- puns but, the intensity and detail on LTWYL is very good, he captured the essence of domestic violence tension so well... He wasn't nailing it here, a lot of repetitivness. But the hook is GOAT af.

Jan 14, 2025 Love Drunk & Key to the Room, so catchy in his Relapse era. The flows always so interesting n weird, and the fkn hooks. Def robbed us of a classic with R2. This is the sound of an artist... and maybe the last example we have of Em specifically - just intoxicated with his concept and fully indulging in it and making it as good as he can, and not worrying at all how it would be received or over-thinking anything.
