Apr 8, 2025 That is definitely a dumb take, but a more sophisticated variation of it that I've heard and that seems to ring true is that modern-day music doesn't reflect or speak to a collective mind or mood on the level that, say, Nirvana did. This isn't necessarily to say music peaked quality-wise in the '90s or whenever, a more subjective judgment, but music these days, unlike in previous generations, seems very niche and atomized, reflecting the atomization of the current technological age, and in this sense seemingly aimless, empty, and meaningless.
Apr 8, 2025 A lot of 90’s non-mainstream music sounds s--- because the mixing was different and thier was more of a focus of putting everything into singles rather then album fillers. But for alternative rock/Grunge scene that’s what made it appealing to a new generation. Like if you go back and listen, most of the artist were making experimental and creative music that was anti-pop and clean. This even started to affect Madonna with Ray of light taking from the underground dance scene. Thats why the 90’s had the most versatile charts because so many genres could coexist, and the biggest stars weren’t even really pop music. They had to be labeled that. Same thing happen with Eminem, Rap became pop culture.
Apr 8, 2025 I mother f---ing PRAY to God he gives us one last personal album with what is going on in his life at this age...Give us some amazing reflection on life at this age, whatever drama is going on in his life, and anything else we want to hear. I want to hear what his life is currently like after being so personal at the beginning of his career, he doesn't have to be as open and personal as he used to be but like...give us an update somewhat. I know he is sober but I want to know somewhat what his current life is like after becoming a Stan in 2003....
