    RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 10/10!!!!!!!!

This is gonna be a short review. Just about all of these are classic songs my grandparents played as a kid that I’ve heard all my life. The song I appreciate most on here is “So Fine” by Howard Johnson since it’s the one I’ve never heard. This song got me feeling sexy. s--- got me unlocking new dance moves

I like how clever the opening and closing tracks are. “Play That Funky Music” is a great opener as Evad, a white boy, proceeds to play us funky music on this mixtape. And of course the ending track being called “Exit Music (For A Film)” is self-explanatory. Maybe this isn’t a mixtape, maybe it is indeed a movie, maybe it’s even…

    Big Monkey's Micro Penis Review:

Much like the last mixtape, most of the music here isn't what i'm used to. But that's the beauty of this club.

Starting with the negatives. Songs like Hejira and Carpet of the Sun honestly sounded like something my grandma might’ve listened to.

However, the mixtape picked up in the second half. I enjoyed tracks like Spirit Slips Away, Dancing Madly Backwards, Easy Living, and Love Like Blood. Those had a lot more energy and style that clicked with me.

So while it got off to a rough start, I ended up enjoying a good chunk of it by the end.

    7/10

    @Allis Mines - Big Monkey’s Micro Penis

    review

In the second installment of his cabinet of Big Monkey’s sexual obscenities, Allis shows up with a great mix of some pretty moving and profound songs.

This tiny c--- ballad opens up with a seriously beautiful song, Hejira by Joni Mitchell. Hadn’t heard this one before but its 6 minute runtime went by like it was seconds. Great, haunting instrumental and her voice rocks.

Loved how the first track established this slightly acoustic atmosphere which was then pushed further with Big Star’s Thirteen. This song was cool but not really one of my favorites.

Carpet of the Sun was great, no complaints at all. Great song, an absolute knockout.

The Rennaissance song kicked off this really consistent run of tracks. Ophelia, Barstool Blues, and Charlotte Street are all so easy to listen to and just pleasing to the ears all around. Especially Charlotte Street which pulled me in instantly and is one of my favorite discoveries on here.

Five-O is no exception to this either. Great, easy on the ears music that I’ll be happy to listen to whenever it comes on. A lot of the songs on here have instrumentals that are at first glance simple but are in reality very complex and take a few listens to appreciate fully. It is impressive that songs that are this laid back reach such levels of complexity.

Captain Beyond’s Dancing Madly Backwards was a dose of energy, a subtle hit of this mixtape’s crackpipe. I interpret it as the poor victim of the micro penis getting hooked on the crackrock and realising his s--- is now both limp and microscopic. A true modern drama.
The song’s fine but not entirely my thing.

Easy Livin is entirely my thing, though. That riff is pretty hard and makes the whole song pop. The vocals are very interesting too.

The Thin Lizzy song was a good cut, not a standout for me but a quality song that helped keep the tape consistent.

Love Like Blood by Killing Joke is one of my favorites on here. Love everything about it, kinda jealous I did not find the song in time to include it on my tape.

The Sparks song is amazing, crazy that it is from the 70s. s--- is way ahead of its time. Going to be replaying this.

Sylvian’s Nostalgia is a pretty ethereal song. This is how music sounds to me when I’m falling asleep with my headphones on. Enjoyed this a lot.

Tinseltown in the Rain is a cool song, but one I will need to give more listens. On first listen I found it kind of tedious but on the second and third it slowly started to click. There is a lot to unpack from that instrumental.

River of Deceit is a song that I had actually heard before. Love it, 10/10. Impeccable vibes.

Great closer with The Light is Always Green. A very tasteful tune that made me feel nostalgic for whatever reason.

All around, had a lot of fun with this tape. This thing was so easy to listen to and proved to be a great soundtrack for a very busy week. I appreciate the musical respite that this collection of songs was.

    9.5/10

@Allis Mines - Big Monkey's Micro Penis QUICK REVIEW

    Score: 10.0 (16/16)

Gonna keep this short and sweet (word to Sabrina) due to me being so late with it and I got some s--- to do soon lol. Solid tape, liked every track and some standouts include Hejira, Charlotte Street, and The Light Is Always Green. This tape was a vibe while I played some Minecraft.

    @jankland @Ripper Roo

Thank you :emoji_pray: Yeah I wasn’t trying to go for anything underground or off the radar, just songs I enjoyed growing up and have everything transition smoothly.

If we did a strictly a 90’s tape in general I’d definitely take a different approach as I know that era way better and it’d be super fun

    Evads Time Capsule Review

Great tape. I really enjoyed almost every track on here and knew most of them.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the number of massive hits. Billie Jean, It Was a Good Day, Nuthin’ But a G Thang, Dear Mama, Gangsta’s Paradise (RIP Coolio) makes it feel a bit like a greatest hits collection at times. Honestly, I ended up skipping some of those just because I’ve heard them so many times.

There’s not much to add about these legends. Dear Mama shows you don’t need a thousand syllables to write a masterpiece. Nuthin’ But a G Thang is a track that defined an entire era. Billie Jean is one of the first songs that come to mind when you think of MJ.

    Both Nirvana songs are great.

From the songs I haven’t heard before, the one I enjoyed the most was Jungle Love. Great track, saved to my library.

    9/10

d---, you went your whole life without hearing Jungle Love? That’s gotta be pretty rare. I feel like I hear that all the time on classic rock stations and in movies and s--- like that lol. But yeah, great song for sure, must be nice to hear it for the first time
