Jun 25, 2025 at 1:03 AM Alfredo was dope and so was Freddie’s last album. I expect this will most likely be pretty good
Jun 25, 2025 at 1:48 AM @Justin Trudeau @AOTWClub Clipse - h--- Hath No Fury This is one of those times I'm thankful i managed to get multiple listens in within a reasonable amount of time, at first I liked about half the album and didn't really jive with the production for a solid chunk of the runtime (potentially divisive I know. But Pharrell has always been hit or miss for me even if I recognize the talent). Good for me that on further listens a lot clicked into place for my ear, songs like Trill and Chinese New Year while still on the weaker side of the record for me ended up not being as detrimental to my experience as it was the first go around. Actually found myself enjoying them. As for the rapping itself Pusha and Malice do what they both do best, lot of money and coke talk but always written in a consistently clever fashion and that's never changed. I think Malice is actually quite underrated and ends up having highlights of verses on a lot of Clipse tracks, one thing that's not a positive or negative is how much Pushas voice changed to me at least. Obviously he's much younger here but I find myself preferring his newer songs delivery and vocally speaking although it's all high quality. The sequencing was solid, most of these tracks were similar enough to not make sequencing too jarring which is a positive in this case. The features did their thing as well Slim Thug and Ab-Liva were personal favorites. Overall a very straightforward, enjoyable albeit a simple rap record that does what it sets out to do in a very entertaining way. Gets in and out quickly and stays within a very consistently quality range with good rapping and solid production! Favorite Songs: We Got It For Cheap, Wamp Wamp, Ride Around Shining, Dirty Money, Nightmares RATING 7.5/10
Jun 25, 2025 at 1:50 AM Although I really did enjoy this the new album seems like it has the potential to be even more my speed which is exciting!
Jun 25, 2025 at 2:38 AM "OVO 40 hunched over like he's 80" is still one of the hardest lines I've heard in a diss lmao Pusha is such a pure bred hater I love it
Jun 25, 2025 at 2:39 AM Same, his voice got deeper and grittier. Makes him and Malice easier to differentiate and makes them compliment each other more
Jun 25, 2025 at 2:51 AM Almost 200 pages! Appreciate that you guys keep this s--- going, its nice to have actual convos about music with non r-----ed Individuals
Jun 25, 2025 at 3:07 AM I thought that was going to be what the forum was gonna be like when I first signed up, I was sorely mistaken
Jun 25, 2025 at 3:19 AM Instead the forum was mostly just an Eminem circlejerk with the occasional fake beef made out of boredom and lack of fulfillment in life. Although threads like this have been changing that. This site feels different from what it used to be a few years ago
Jun 25, 2025 at 3:26 AM The two new Clipse singles are fire. They lean more toward the sound of Pusha T’s recent solo work which I’ve really come to appreciate over time. Watching one of their recent interview also got me interested in the album.
Jun 25, 2025 at 3:27 AM Good to see this! I liked Pusha's s--- the last years but his earlier work never did as much for me (compared to his new stuff I mean). Some artist really do sound better over time.
Jun 25, 2025 at 3:34 AM Giving a couple more listens before a formal review but I will say it's really unfortunate --- wasn't a good person cause he had a lot of potential musically. I feel like him, Ski (hes alive but hasnt really pushed himself), and Juice were an interesting facet of the SoundCloud emo trap era that could've evolved a popular sound that would've been way better for me than the rage s--- that ended up getting big. A lot of these artists got unfairly lumped into the mumble category cause of the time they came up but I found the genre blending and the way they were playing with flows pretty interesting.
Jun 25, 2025 at 4:03 AM Clipse - h--- Hath No Fury review I only got into Pusha's music back when Daytona dropped and the quality of that record was what made me want to check out more of his material in the first place. Admittedly, I'd never really put time aside to check out the rest of his catalogue back then; so, naturally, the next step was listening to Clipse's discography that had been even more acclaimed than his solo work. So it was summer of 2018 when I got into this project, the rest is pretty much history becuase I've been hooked on it since. What makes this album so amazing to me is the synergy between Pharrell, Malice, and Push. Pharrell Williams is usually pretty hit or miss for me because, despite producing some of my favorite rap songs ever (Good Kid by Kendrick), sometimes his beats tend to sound a bit janky and reminiscent of RZA's Guitar center abomination. This, though, is most definitely not the case on h--- Hath No Fury, as the music on here sounds as malicious as the rapping does. We Got It For Cheap is such a fire intro that really hooks you in, the first verse has got to be one of my favorite verses ever. Absolute flames, that flow is cocaine made musical. What's even better is the fact that this album doesn't follow the somewhat typical formula of rap projects where the first songs sets you up and the others knock you the f--- down; the whole tape keeps the momentum going over its 12 songs, 48 minute runtime (which is the perfect album length, IMO). I think that the songs flow together very well and thus it wouldn't really be too interesting of a read if I wrote about each one separately (I'd probably repeat myself over and over again). That said, some of my personal favorites on here, besides the aforementioned intro, include absolutely every single song besides Trill; this one is kind of lacklustre to me, I never got into it as much. I agree with the sentiment about the brothers' voices lowkey being indistinguishable at times, which can make this a challenging listen in that regard. Which leads me to also agreeing with what y'all just said about Push and how he got better over the years. Not only is it due to his voice changing, it is also a result of great artistic evolution. He keeps getting better and better and, judging by the singles for the upcoming Clipse albume, Malice is too. I am really excited for the release of Let God Sort Em Out. Everyone involved sounds like they're in their bag. I fully expected that from Push and Malice but I'm especially glad that it sounds like Pharrell killed it as well. Super happy that we'll have an event for the project here, too. I think it will be very interesting to see how everyone's opinions on the new material compare to their takes on this, some would say, classic record. This was a great album to pick for the club. Love to see some Clipse representation on here! I'll definitely be bumping their old and new s--- alike this summer. Need to get me a lowrider to cruise in while blasting these crack cocaine classics. 9/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Jun 25, 2025 at 5:02 AM @AOTWClub I tallied up Clipse- h--- Hath No Fury early as the usual 8 had put their Reviews in It is tied for the number 1 spot!
Jun 25, 2025 at 4:15 PM XXXTENTACION - ? I'm not the only zoomer in this club, so I don't doubt that my experience with this record is very similar to my fellow broccoli heads. I remember hearing about X for the first time from one of my buddies when I was ELEVEN. Some might say that being exposed to an artist like X at such a young age wouldn't be ideal, but it sure happened. To give some context for the non-zoomers in the club, X was already big before he passed, but he absolutely exploded after it. I swear, like half of the students in my grade would post those stupid Bart Simpson edits with "Jocelyn Flores" playing. Now, time for the actual album (I yap a lot, I admit it). It seems that this is an unpopular opinion in this club, but for the most part, I'm a much bigger fan of X's hype tracks like than his softer tracks. There are some exceptions (the aforementioned "Jocelyn Flores" is still an amazing song), but X's softer tracks never really did much for me honestly. To put it simply, I'm one of those zoomers who knows every word to "Look At Me!" by heart. "SAD!" is still a pretty good track, and I'm pretty sure it's his biggest song, or at least one of the biggest. "Floor 555" is a great hype track, and it's probably one of my favorite X songs. "infinity (888)" has a great feature from Joey Bada$$ and I really enjoyed "going down!" and "$$$". The highlight for me has to be "i don't even speak spanish lol". I do admit that i am a bit biased, since I can actually speak Spanish (checkmate Jahseh), but this is a very fun, and smooth track that wouldn't sound out of place on one of the hundred latin pop stations that are all over the radio. Now, I have singled out 6/18 songs from this record that I enjoy. As someone who usually isn't too big on X's melodic tracks, songs like "ALONE, PART 3" and "changes" do very little for me. The songs on ? that I enjoyed, I enjoyed a lot. But as a whole, X's full projects never really did much for me, and I feel very similarly about his debut 17. For me, X is an artist who made a lot of songs that I enjoy, but who's projects never quite clicked with me in the same way. Still I wanna thank @DiggleDogg69 for picking this record, as we need some ZOOMER REPRESENTATION. FAVORITE TRACKS: SAD!, FLOOR 555, infinity (888), "i don't even speak spanish lol" RATING:6.5/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Jun 25, 2025 at 4:18 PM I played the h--- out of Alfredo for like 3 years, so I just know it'll be great as well. It is a shame that it won't have a Benny feature like the first though
Jun 25, 2025 at 5:14 PM XXXTENTACION - ? I was very curious about this because I only (really) listened to 'don't even speak spanish' and the main artist (---) only has like 3 lines on it. There's one song from him I been listening to for years and that's the collab with Lil Peep 'Lil peep and xxxtentacion' sounds like a f---ing circus act but man I really like this song! Back to this album. So after the talking the first song is Alone, part 3. By no means a bad song, like at all, but I have no idea on what occasion I would listen to this -again-. Moonlight I kinda like even if half of the verses are mumble. This is not an insult, it really is hard to understand lmao. Catchy song though! Sad is pretty cool, again pretty catchy. It really helps that most of these songs are kinda short. Remedy is pretty good too, but kinda falls in the same category as Alone to me. It is nice to hear something totally different with Floor 555 even if I think it sucks a---. Numb again is a different sound, I like this more. I just kinda get annoyed by the repetive whoah whoah s---. Infinity is a nice ""real"" rap record s--- is great! Going down is a fun 2 minute song, nothing special. The silly voices are not really my thing though. Pain bestfriend... yeah this is a bit to emo for me sorry. Dollarsigns the oooohh and yahyahyah kinda ruin it but the beat and verses are fine I guess. Smash not a fan. I don't speak spanish is so d--- catchy. Love it. Like I said --- is barely on this so you don't have to be a fan to enjoy this. Changes again, not bad at all, p good actually, but not something I'd relisten to. Hope is inoffensive, he sings very well tbh. Shizo I like more than the other rock songs until the screaming at the end. Before I close my eyes, another slow song thats good but yeah idk. Probably my favorite out of the slow songs but none of them I really have the desire to go back to. So basically: I like that he mixed up different genres here and raps, sings, screams. Lots of artists only have one sound they repeat for 20 tracks, he sure didn't with this album. However none of it really blew me away or made me add it to my playlist instantly. Eventually added a few though: don't speak spanish, infinity, sad, moonlight. Despite it not becoming my favorite album ever, its nice to hear the guy was more creative than people (including myself) thought! So nice pick @DiggleDogg69 Giving this a 6,7 @AOTWClub
Jun 25, 2025 at 8:45 PM @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau XXXTENTACION - ? My relationship to X and his music is pretty strange, I've never listened to him a lot but his music was too big to ignore being younger while he was blowing up. My eldest brother was/is a big fan of his (jank lore drop my oldest brother is a terrible person so i already have a somewhat negative emotional reaction to X through that aside from his personal demons) so I'd have conversations about him and his music and the whole emo rap wave when it was blowing up. Negative feelings with that association aside I also thought X was a pretty terrible person, re-reading up about him in preparation for this review reminded me of some of the awful s--- he's done. On top of being horribly physically abusive to the pregnant mother of his child there's also the entire story to one of his biggest songs Jocelyn Flores which I find pretty gross but as someone who likes to separate art from artist as best he can (I mean we reviewed a f---ing Manson album lmao) there's always been X songs I really loved and I do believe he was super talented he also helped out and inspired a bunch of artists i personally love (Denzel Curry, Billie Eilish etc). With that long spiel out of the way I went into my first full album of his with and open mind and came out enjoying it despite some obvious flaws that come with someone with his personality in what was supposed to be an early record in his career before his life got cut short. First things first I hate the intro, it comes off as a very forced and cringy way to act like you're some incredible genius for mixing some genres decently well lmao. That being said after the intro that I skipped everytime I listened to this record outside of the first it goes straight into Alone Pt 3 which i think is a pretty great song, I really like his singing voice and think it fits with the style of depressive music he was making really well. Moonlight follows after and although my take on this is pretty basically considering the popularity of the song I f---ing love this lol. The production is great, adore the cadence, everything about it is quintessential melodic emo rap. SAD is similar for me, I think the lyrics taken at face value as real feeling are super s-----y and emotionally manipulative but there's almost something brave about airing that s--- out that i respect? Another one in the boat of me really loving it, he did pretty good with his format of really short runtimes. I actually also really like The Remedy For A Broken Heart, one of my favorites here but there's not much to add that i haven't already said for the other tracks so I'll leave it at that. Floor 555 is one of the rock inspired ones, I kinda hated it at first and while I still don't love it I like the attempt and energy that it brings to what's been a downer of a tape so far. I don't think he's particularly bad at the style either its just that the screaming rock rap s--- is very hit or miss for me in general. NUMB is pretty good to me as well, return to the more emo stylings, nothing to particularly write home about but overall really solid to me for what it is. Infinity (888) is a highlight, all around fun rap track that Joey and X both k---. Really love the flows here and good overall performances to what serves as a better breaker of pace than Floor 555 I thought Going Down! was actually pretty fun! Very silly in its delivery but there's an energy here with some entertaining rapping that I very much enjoyed. Pain = BESTFRIEND was fine. I think Travis is super f---ing talented but the mix and style of song didn't do much to showcase that. Nothing crazy about what X does here either $$$ is another one that was decently fun, I completely f---ing forgot that Mike Ox existed but his part was pretty fun, X did pretty alright here as well. I know the Uhs and Ays after lines can get tiring to people after a while but I have a soft spot for it Smash! is alright, same camp as the last track for me. Vapidly entertaining but forgettable in the grand scheme of it all. I don't even speak Spanish lol seems to be a highlight in here, I think it's very fun and a cool idea for a song! Especially in the context of this genre blending playlist feeling record. Not going in my favorites list but an honorable mention for sure, just really enjoyable and everyone did great on it. Changes is decent, this is where shorter runtime start getting a bit detrimental to me on the record some ideas here that can be fleshed out. Even though I just said that and it absolutely holds true here I actually really like Hope lol. Appreciate the sentiment even if the lyrics are pretty bare bones and just really liked the whole vibe of the song. Not a fan of Schizophrenia, the whispering stuff didn't click with me and it ended up being like Floor 555 but less interesting to me especially cause I think if you cut this the last 3 track back to back would actually make for a solid outro. Before I close my eyes is also decent but short I think going out as you came in this record with soft singing is a good choice and I'm just a sucker for the way he delivers his depressive songs, you can see the influence in so many people to varying levels of success but I almost always liked when he did it. Throughout my complex connection to X and his music there's undeniably tracks from him that I absolutely adore, a lot stemming from this record which was obviously going to be a stepping stone to what was going to end up being a massive career that got cut short (keep in mind this f---er had more listeners than Drake when he was popping iirc) and even through a lot of criticisms I have for this I think the simplicity of it mixed with the chaotic nature of all the sounds on this album does come together to make something that was pretty unique to be in the mainstream. My score probably won't reflect the overall vibe I had in this review but it's more disappointment on my end that him as a person didn't make me want to root for him as much as he could've deserved during the time he was alive. I really appreciate the space occupied to make a lot of kids struggling with mental health and substance abuse problems feel seen and supported. Overall more cirticism than i levied to things i gave a lower score to but with enough great tracks that i have a connection with to heavily counteract it. A very solid project with some of my absolute favorite songs in this subgenre that I probably won't go back very often. Favorite Songs: Alone Pt 3, Moonlight, Sad, The Remedy For A Broken Heart, Infinity (888), Hope RATING 8/10
